New from me on the campaign trail!
Visited Lansing, Mich., last week to shadow @tombarrettmi7 as he door-knocked & @WeWill2026 as he held town halls.
It's the costliest House race in the country & both men are leaning into populist health policy ideas.

Another name that kept popping up in my conversations w/ House GOP about a leadership fight in the minority?
RSC Chair August Pfluger
"I think that he's positioned himself very well to be able to be in some sort of leadership position. I think it just depends on what that looks like," one R said
Another R told me, “When I was a candidate, I had no idea who he was, but he called me and gave money to my campaign…He’s very ambitious, but I don’t know what he’s aiming those ambitions towards."
A third person said Pfluger was being “tactically quiet”
NRCC chair, minority whip were the positions floated
But that could largely depend on how the midterms go — if losses are bad enough for the GOP, another R expects the entire leadership slate to be “wiped out”

On the morning of Feb. 4, Wash Post had almost 800 in newsroom -- NOTUS had 45.
Now, as NOTUS become Washington Sun, there's 110 and growing in the newsroom.

Rep. Mike Simpson (R-Idaho), a senior appropriator, says “there will be another CR probably beyond December 11th. That’s the reality.”
“I suspect what you'll see is a package of maybe two or three or four mini-buses with several bills in each one … But we can get some of them done, I think,” Simpson told me and @MaeveSheehey.
Simpson said he does not think there will be a shutdown.

Rep. Cole told @MaeveSheehey & I he hasn’t seen this letter as of a few minutes ago. He said he understands HFC concerns but thinks they shouldn’t use the rule as leverage.
NEW — I got a copy of a letter Chip Roy sent to Budget Chair Jodey Arrington and Approps Chair Tom Cole and shared with Speaker Mike Johnson.
In the letter, Roy argues the CR extends taxpayer money for abortion services and urges opposition to the bill.
“Members voting for this CR should understand that they are voting to continue federal funding for the current mifepristone regime and to allow taxpayer dollars to continue flowing to Planned Parenthood - and should be prepared to account for those votes accordingly,” he wrote.
