Did this radio chat in FP2 lead to a discussion in the later debrief that triggered's @OconEsteban's absence today? LM: "We've swapped the high fuel run to medium. Olllie's appearance is not great.” OCO: “Still doing soft, right?” LM: “No, we have to do medium.” OCO: “No, no, I want the soft, like don't do that to me. Come on. I did more laps on the medium, so…” OCO: “It is my turn this weekend, so come on…”

The only conclusion can be that @OconEsteban has had a falling out with @HaasF1Team management, potentially in the wake of a heated radio discussion with his engineer over tyre usage. The fact that Ryo Hirakawa had done FP1 gave the team an easy option to replace him, and it's also a nice present to Toyota after the disappointment of Rafael Camara getting the race seat. If Ocon is gone for good it even opens up the remaining races for Camara, if Ferrari agrees, although Brazil will be a tough debut...

🗣️ Ayao Komatsu had plenty to say regarding rumours that circulated regarding Ollie Bearman's contract and salary - and made it clear he was unimpressed: "I have no idea where that comes from. People say there's no smoke without fire, but really some people will invent a story. I don't know who smoked up this six million euro number. That's the first time I saw it on Instagram or something that's been forwarded to me. I have no comments to make because it's just not even close to the truth. Why do we engage in such absolute nonsense? What's the point of it? Those people are clearly not trying to help anything, right? It's amazing these days that people don't check the source. 'So okay, I want to get some more clicks. I want to get some more likes.' So they cut and paste those stories and keep running with it. Before you know it, there are 20 people running the stories that they think it's the truth. It's absolute nonsense."
