Some of you may still remember the 12-year-old girl who was locked and repeatedly raped by her biological father until she became more than 7 months pregnant. Today, this little girl gets better and has returned to school with new smile. She would like to express her heartfelt gratitude to all the teachers, especially the doctors and medical staff in Pursat Province who saved her life. Poor child… she has been distressed all night, not wanting to go to court, not wanting to see her mother, and not wanting to hear anything about what happened to her. After being tied up, severely beaten, subjected to violence, and sexually abused by her own mother over a long period, this little girl is still deeply traumatized. She has not yet regained her emotional stability and continues to struggle with severe psychological distress. Despite everything she has endured, she must face the court. How much more must this poor child suffer?

She is still so young. I am truly devastated and deeply shocked when I arrived at her home and saw the victim girl who had suffered such terrible abuse, I was overwhelmed with heartbreak when I saw her tiny newborn baby for almost 2 months. How will a baby born as a result of rape grow up and face the world? And what about the victim girl? How will she cope with everything she has endured? On our way back to the center, she told me that her uncle had raped her and threatened to kill her if she dared to tell anyone. She hide everything until her pregnancy became more noticeable. Her mother suspected and took her to the hospital for an examination. Then she finally revealed everything to her mother. Sadly, by that time, the pregnancy was already too far advanced for any intervention. The perpetrator is reportedly known to be extremely aggressive and violent. Fortunately, the police have now arrested him. Meanwhile, the young girl is on her way to the center of AFESIP Cambodia, where she will receive care, protection, and support.

Today, we attended the opening ceremony at Prey Sar Primary School, encouraging students to study hard and pursue their dreams for a brighter future. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to the school principal and teachers for their continued cooperation, care, and support in helping our girls, especially newly admitted children, enroll in school without delay.

29/10/2025 – 29/10/2026 One full year since little Nav came into our care at AFESIP Cambodia. I still remember that day so clearly, and I know many of you do too. The heartbreaking images of a little baby, just over one year old, who suffered terrible abuse at the hands of her own biological father. Her future was put at risk before her life had barely begun. Even her tiny arms and legs were injured. After one year of love, care, and protection from our all staff and other girls at the center, and especially the many kind-hearted supporters who have shown their compassion and support, little Nav has become a happy, cheerful girl, enjoying her childhood like other children her age. Little Nav is now safe and happy. The other girls at our center have been educating too, but how many more little children are still suffering in silence from abuse? Just today, I received reports of two more cases of sexual abuse. When will we all come together to protect our children and ensure that every child can grow up safe from abuse and violence? Every child deserves safety, love, protection, and a happy childhood.

I am lost for words. My poor girl… she was born into a life of such heartbreaking circumstances.From the day she was born, this little girl lived with her grandmother. It was not until she turned 11 that her mother came to take her to live with her. They were staying in a workshop belonging to a school principal, located inside the school compound. Tragically, the school principal repeatedly sexually harassed and raped her, threatening her if she dared to tell anyone. Terrified that he would take away their place to stay or physically abuse her, she remained silent. For an entire year, she endured unimaginable suffering in silence and stopped attending school. Then one day, her mother walked in and caught the principal in the act of raping her. I am heartbroken and speechless. How could a school principal, someone entrusted with protecting and educating children, commit such a cruel and horrific act? Since she was very young, Sreymey suffered physical and sexual abuse committed by her own biological father then she was admitted into the center. After some time, she repeatedly begged us to let her return home. She told us: “Here at the center, I live comfortably and have good food to eat, but my mother and younger siblings sometimes don't even have enough rice to eat.” She wanted to go home to help her mother care for her younger siblings, cook meals, and ease some of the family's daily burdens. But over the past two years, she has faced constant discrimination, humiliation, and verbal abuse from people in her village. She can no longer bear it. Even her mother has asked us to take her back into our care. Sometimes, I truly cannot understand what kind of hearts these people have. You have found a wonderful husband who does not judge you for your past. Instead, he loves you even more deeply, with compassion, understanding, and respect. He has honored you and given you the beautiful wedding you deserve. Narin has lived with me at AFESIP Cambodia for the past 18 years. She has always been a good girl, determined to overcome every obstacle in her life. No matter how much pressure, hardship, or suffering she faced, she never gave up on her dreams. Last year, she became a full-time staff member of AFESIP Cambodia. Today, she has made me, our center, and especially the younger girls who have survived similar hardships, incredibly proud. Her journey shows them that no matter where we come from or what we have been through, if we remain kind, disciplined, hardworking, patient, honest, and determined, one day we may find someone who truly loves and values us for who we are. So Mae Jas and the team gathered at the center to make traditional Num Ansom together, creating a special family moment where our girls can enjoy the traditions and warmth of Pchum Ben.
