It's Freshers Week & thousands of students are starting university. Yet, too few young people from disadvantaged backgrounds benefit from the university experience. We explore the issue & highlight a remarkable project that is helping to close the gap:

As philanthropists, our investments should not create harms that we then ask charities to solve. That’s why it’s vital for philanthropic investors to focus on social and environmental impact alongside financial return.

📣Last year, The Charity Service granted £1.4m from Donor Advised Funds. The grants reflect our donors’ concern for humanity. Health, social welfare and society were all popular causes. #philanthropy

Great work from @kysoclub taking young people for a developmental weekend @Ghyllhead. Looks like you had a good time!
We're pleased that a small grant from our Cinderella Fund helped make this happen.
A great 3 days at @Ghyllhead activity outdoor centre, lots of learning, lots of great skills developed for the young people, we are proud we took away @kysoclub @msmpowerhouse members - 20 in total. ❤️ thank you to @RuthDenton16 and @ManCityCouncil #ouryear2022 we appreciate you.

Every time we start planning and organising @ManchesterBall I wonder if we can still hope for the same generosity and support as the previous year. As we approach this evenings Ball, and I’ve a moment to reflect...
... I am again speechless at the level of support we’ve had for our little gig! Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to help us along the way, to those who have donated their time or prizes, and to each of you who is attending this evening...
... You are in for a fantastic night. This is our biggest Manchester Ball, and it’s going to be awesome. Everything we have achieved together is for two incredible charities @manchesteryz and @Hideout_YZ THANK YOU!
