Beyond the state-versus-market divide: Rethinking Chinese Corporate Statecraft 🌏
How do Chinese companies shape China's global influence? And how can we actually measure corporate statecraft, rather than simply assume that Chinese firms act on behalf of the state?
Yesterday at the University of Oxford's China Centre, @MapGlobalChina brought together a diverse array of scholars to tackle these questions at our roundtable, Unpacking Chinese Global Influence: Mapping Global China and Chinese Corporate Statecraft.
Today we had a wonderful roundtable at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) to discuss Mapping Global China and reflect on how new approaches to data visualization, digital mapping, and storytelling can transform the way we research and understand China’s global presence.
It was especially rewarding to see how students are helping shape the project, experimenting with new ways of connecting data, research, and storytelling.
We look forward to continuing this collaboration and exploring what these tools can make possible for the broader field of Global China studies.

Zhengyu Huang, Chairman of Yu Capital and former President of the Committee of 100, argues that the real competition may be less about technology itself - and more about the talent that drives technological innovation.
