The Narodniks (Russian revolutionaries fighting for the emancipation of the peasantry) said it already in the 1860s: there is nothing more wrong than the claim that socialism is possible only in a developed bourgeois society. It arises wherever there is inequality & exploitation.

Karl Marxen azken urteetako obra eta bizitza, sarri ezezagunak, jasotzen dituen obra sakona, argitaratu gabeko iturriak, gutun pertsonalak eta idazlanak oinarri dituena.

Marx was a sans-papier. Exiled to UK he applied for a passport in 1874 having to travel due to illness. Denied by Scotland Yard:"He is a notorious agitator advocate of communist principles, who had not been loyal to his king & country." Remained stateless for the rest of his life

Rosa #Luxemburg argued that the slogan War on #war!” should become “the cornerstone of working-class politics”. As she wrote during World War I, the “main goal” of the proletariat should be “fighting imperialism and preventing wars, in peace as in war times”.

Today, as in the past, liberals blame workers for their poverty & social inequality. Not the system. But 150 years ago Marx explained that “it's not the consciousness of human beings that determines their existence, but their social existence that determines their consciousness”.
Marx was an affable man in everyday life but not when it came to capitalism.
To a bourgeois who had asked him "who would shine shoes in the society of the future?" he replied "You, of course!"
Then he was asked when communism would begin: "we will be gone but that era will come".

Friedrich Engels: "ruthless criticism is the only worthy form of free science that every human being should regard as welcome, even if it is directed against oneself."

Liberals are in favor of "free" market, but "let me ask whether these writers prefer digging 6 days a week, at 12 hours a day, for a whole life, or 6 hours a day for 3 days a week". "A nation is truly rich if the working day is 6 hours rather than 12. Wealth is not surplus labor time but disposable time, in addition to that employed in the production, for every individual and for the whole society". (C.W. Dilke, 1821)
