biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/… We propose #T1D is primarily caused by immune responses against microbial-enzyme transketolase which contains key insulin-epitope. Our findings link microbial metabolism of polysaccharides, dysbiosis and antigen-specific immune responses to insulin.

When it comes to #thymus protection against autoimmunity, producing normal thymic regulatory T cells is more important than deleting self-reactive T cells, @UZH_en researchers conclude from studies in mice. Check out the 2021 research: scim.ag/64L #WeekendReads

Do you work in biomedical #research? Do you also question your #antibodies? Dodgy antibodies waste time & $$$ + drive the reproducibility crisis. Let's talk about it! We've validated >50❗️Tau antibodies: rb.gy/jf247 Here's what we learnt & why it matters A 🧵 1/n

Very fascinating ecology of IL-2.
New research from @LabListon investigates the #cytokine network of #IL2. Using a new genetic tool, the authors show that response to IL2 depends on the cellular source. This explains old mysteries of clinical adverse events and provides new targets bit.ly/3MMoM1X
Interesting! Extinction of microbiomes changes fine-tuned ecology of the immune responses to commensals. This is particularly important during infant weaning when regulatory T cells to self epitopes are amplified by commensals mimics. See example for #T1D medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
