Hyperbolic garbage. The Journalism Assistance Fund is to assist journalism itself, which is under siege from foreign big tech AI companies. It's about Australian jobs. Sour grapes because Hanson & Rinehart's major media backer SkyNonsense is ineligible. Why? Foreign ownership.

95%+ collapse in David Jones' value occurred almost entirely during Coalition governments. In 2014, sold to South African retailer Woolworths Holdings Limited for about A$2.15 billion. In late 2022, sold to private equity firm Anchorage Capital Partners for about A$100 million.

Pauline Hanson has today insisted she was “not aware of the content” of her vile cartoon—but watch her yesterday tell Jacqui Lambie to ‘get over it’ and ‘have a laugh’ about ‘women suffering from this thing’🙄 No bigger liar or hypocrite than Hanson. #auspol

PAULINE HANSON demonstrates why she is not fit to lead a government, let alone a political party, in the clip below. The clip also suggests that Barnaby Joyce may have made a rather unfortunate career decision joining ONE NATION. He looks like a broken man. See for yourself. And what has Pauline got her knickers in a knot about? A PROPERTY OWNED BY FOREIGN INTERESTS BEING SOLD TO FOREIGN INTERESTS! Yes, really. LOL. Rushy (Not RUSHKY) Lagoon has largely been under full or partial foreign ownership since the 1960s, and was entirely foreign-owned for the 30 years preceding its latest sale. But this is Pauline Hanson, so naturally, there's a conspiracy lurking somewhere. 1. MY UNDERSTANDING — OTHERWISE KNOWN AS NO EVIDENCE “My understanding is that many Australians wanted to buy it,” says Hanson. MY UNDERSTANDING? BASED ON WHAT, PAULINE? My understanding is that I wanted to buy it too. Unfortunately, I was $142 million short. Perhaps Jim and Jane, whose café went into liquidation after 12 months, fancied buying it as well. Wanting to buy something and having the financial capacity to buy it are two entirely different fucking things. “My understanding” isn't evidence. It's speculation wearing a cheap suit. 2. THE GOVERNMENT “PROPPED UP THE PRICE” No, they didn't, Pauline. The government, through the Clean Energy Finance Corporation, took an EQUITY POSITION, investing $69 million of taxpayer-backed capital — nearly 50% of the total investment. That's Australian taxpayers gaining a substantial financial stake in a property that was previously 100% FOREIGN-OWNED FOR 30 YEARS. Taking an equity position is not evidence of artificially inflating a property's price. 3. AND THEN THERE'S THE FAMILY BUSINESS! At the Airport interview, when a reporter mentions her daughter, Lee Hanson, Pauline replies: “Oh, don't worry, I've got her working.” Indeed you have, Pauline! Your daughter, LEE HANSON, has a taxpayer-funded position reportedly worth up to $183,000 a year, working as a senior adviser to NSW One Nation Senator SEAN BELL. Bell, incidentally, was a QUEENSLAND RESIDENT and Pauline Hanson's former staffer before being appointed to fill a NSW Senate vacancy following Warwick Stacey's resignation. And where does Lee work? TASMANIA! According to The Guardian, Lee has been working remotely from Tasmania without the required ministerial approval. Now, isn't that interesting? Pauline, weren't you the one insisting that government employees should get back into the office rather than work from home? Apparently, working remotely is a terrible thing — unless it's YOUR daughter. WORK FROM HOME FOR THEE, BUT SPECIAL ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE FAMILY? And there you have it, ladies and gentlemen. Unsubstantiated assertions dressed up as insider knowledge, an equity investment spun into a government conspiracy, and a rather convenient family arrangement. Pauline, if you're going to blabber unsupported nonsense, twist financial facts and give the impression that the rules don't apply to your own family, #NOISY is going to roast you. Get out of Parliament, Pauline. And do it fast.

So some small businesses in Victoria received around $250 million in payments during COVID that they weren’t entitled to. Federally large corporations received $30 billion they weren’t entitled to. Just remember the Morrison gov repeatedly refused to help Victorians.

Josh Butler reported in the Guardian today about Hanson's inflammatory AI video for Victorian campaign launch. Racist tropes depicting African man with machete, Middle Eastern man wearing explosive vest Asian man in a turban talking mass migration, Indigenous Elder talking money!
One Nation has spent over 2 weeks posting 10,000’s of the most heinous, hate filled, vulgar threats to many of our dearest friends on here to stop them from posting, that’s had the reverse effect on me! Hanson has proven they are RWE’s & she is an unfit leader to a hate party!

Analyses from economists like Saul Eslake (scaling PBO data) put the budget hit at around $17bn over 4 years from the scale of cuts, plus many billions more for enforcement, detention and legal costs per former officials. Near-term effects include labour shortages in aged care, agriculture, hospitality and construction, risking higher prices and service reductions, plus a sharp drop in the $55bn international education sector affecting universities and local jobs. Aggregate GDP growth would slow relative to baselines, though per-capita and wage effects are debated across models.

“Real Aussies.” There it is again. Who exactly qualifies as a “real Australian”, Pauline? Someone born here? A citizen? A taxpayer? Someone who works, raises a family and contributes to their community? Or does “real Australian” actually mean “someone who agrees with One Nation”? Because Greens voters are Australians. Teal voters are Australians. Labor voters are Australians. Liberal voters are Australians. Immigrants who become Australian citizens are Australians too. And “champagne sipping rich soccer mums” isn't an argument against a single Teal policy. It's just sneering at Australians who vote differently from you. You want people to vote One Nation? Fine. Tell them what you'll actually do and defend the policies. But this business of dividing the country into “real Aussies” and everybody else tells us considerably more about your politics than it does about theirs. Australia belongs to Australians, Pauline. Not just the ones who vote for you. #FactsOverOutrage

Economic Myth 4: Businesses don't want to invest in Victoria. Wrong. Victoria has seen record high levels of business investment since the pandemic. Victoria's business growth rate since the pandemic matches the national average (2.4% Net vs 2.5% Net). And over the past 12 months, Victoria is ranked 1st in Australia for private business investment growth. ABS data shows private business capital investment in Victoria grew 14.7% to $20.8B. Major firms across science, medicine, renewables, tech, logistics, and manufacturing have invested or increased investment in Victoria. So let me pre-empt the inevitable response from RWNJ trolls... "But what about the higher taxes? Won't somebody think of the higher taxes??" Yes, taxes are higher in specific areas—mainly targeting land and property. But let me ask you, how is that a negative when business investment is so high? Victoria is leading other Australian capital cities in housing affordability. As shown in the graph (below), Melbourne has recorded the lowest CPI of any capital city because housing growth isn't out of control. This is strong evidence that taxing property investors is the right thing to do. Sidenote: When researching this post, guess which think tank framed every single metric about Victoria negatively? Yep, the loony IPA. They hate Victoria, and so do their Liberal and One Nation mates.
