A Florida mother and son were getting ready to leave home when a massive explosion suddenly shook their apartment.
The mother says her frightened son rushed to her as the windows rattled and the power went out. He initially thought the blast was a huge lightning strike, but moments later, they spotted black smoke outside.
The explosion comes as a Learjet crashed in West Palm Beach, killing all nine people aboard.

Audio circulating online appears to capture the pilots of the Learjet 60 talking with air traffic control before the crash in Greenacres, Palm Beach County. The FAA says nine people were on board, flying from Austin, Texas, to the Bahamas. Instead of a vacation, the jet dropped from cruising altitude almost straight down and exploded into a mobile home park just before 1 p.m. Reports say none of the nine survived. Nine families woke up expecting a trip to paradise, and tonight they’re getting the worst call of their lives. The NTSB is now trying to figure out what went so wrong, so fast.

NEW: Witnesses say it sounded like a missile. A $2 million private jet dropped out of the sky and slammed into a mobile home park in Palm Beach County, Florida, and authorities say multiple people are dead.
The plane, believed to be a Learjet 60 that took off from Austin, Texas, crashed just before 2 p.m. Sunday in Greenacres, west of West Palm Beach. Flight tracking data shows it was cruising at more than 35,000 feet before it suddenly plunged almost straight down. It clipped a tree, took out power lines, and hit a mobile home, leaving a fireball and a crater in the ground. Palm Beach County Fire Rescue declared a mass casualty incident. No one knows yet how many people were on the plane or if anyone was inside that home. The FAA and NTSB are now investigating what caused it.
