I have a new piece in @NewYorker about the Wisconsin governor's race and growing movement against A.I. data centers. Deepest thanks to all the people who shared their insights with me and to the stellar editorial staff at the magazine.

As A.I. becomes increasingly unpopular among voters, the politics of data centers are scrambling political lines across the country—including in a tight race for the Wisconsin governor’s mansion. newyorker.com/news/the-lede/…

Georgia audited its own data center tax breaks and found that the state gave up $474 million in sales taxes in one year—and got back just $41 million from the industry. At least 38 states have deals like this. (It's not clear whether all that money the state waived was needed to attract the construction: in Georgia's case, by the state's own estimate, 70% of the data center construction would have happened anyway.)

Regardless of who you're supporting: if you want to pass a state law that allows municipalities to start processing absentee ballots early, commit to doing everything you can to ensure a Democratic trifecta this November

I don't know if a "Magadance" is what it means to claim primary residency in two states, or it has something to do with what Trump does when YMCA plays at his rallies, or if it's some sort of corrupt combination of the two, but my goodness, what a name.

WI GOP claims those hurting the most get relief—but seniors on fixed incomes & low-income folks get no rebate check. How is that relief?
Then when our state has a $2.9 billion deficit next year, the programs that help them like BadgerCare, SNAP etc, will be at risk.

In the wake of the massive 20% victory for Chris Taylor in the Supreme Court race last week, Republicans just lost their incumbent GOP Senator that was running in their only flip opportunity this year.
They know change is coming in Wisconsin in November.
More retirement news: @SenJesseJames announces he won't seek reelection, dealing a blow to Republicans' chances of holding the state Senate.
The GOP will now be without an incumbent in three of the four races considered in play.

Folks, lawmakers have a chance next week to do the right thing and ban partisan gerrymandering.
We cannot accept no as an answer. Call and write your lawmakers and urge them to ban map rigging in Wisconsin once and for all.

Democrats have been advocating for this bill for YEARS and after pulling every lever they could on the final day of the session, *that's when GOP leadership caved*.
I don't doubt that many Republicans do genuinely want this bill to pass. It had 70+ sponsors and passed 32-1 in the Senate, after all. But none of that broke through to Vos until Neubauer and Dems tied these two bills to every other bill. They went absolutely all-out and should be commended for it.
It's a gargantuan political victory for Greta Neubauer and Assembly Democrats.

Wisconsin’s leaders should be lifting up our public universities, not holding them back. UW–Platteville students and faculty are leading the way, and they deserve every bit of support we can give.

With @BenWikler's historic investments in down ballot Democrats, Senate Dems won all five of our targeted races, broke the Republican supermajority in our chamber and put Democrats on a path to the majority in 2026.
Take our word for it: it wouldn't have happened without him.

It is the honor of a lifetime to receive Speaker Emerita Pelosi’s endorsement for a DNC Chair campaign that is surging at this decisive moment.
Together we will unite our party, fight through this moment of crisis, and win victories that make a difference in people’s lives.

ALT Speaker Pelosi endorses Ben with the following statement: “For several years, I have had the honor and success to work with Ben Wikler from his thousands of events to save our health care at MoveOn to his winning tough elections in Wisconsin including Justice Janet Protasiewicz and Senator Tammy Baldwin. As a former State Chair and longtime DNC member, I have enormous respect for the DNC and the grassroots activism it engenders. It is with great confidence that I endorse Ben Wikler for Chair as the candidate best suited to lead us to a stronger DNC and many Democratic victories.”
