Corrupt autocracies prefer to do business with other corrupt autocracies because the profits are personal on both sides, not for the state or the country. No oversight, no investigations.
The US is willing to betray its closest allies in Europe, a market of 450 million people and an economy worth nearly $20 trillion, just to cut shady, corrupt deals with Putin's Russia, an economy roughly the size of Italy's. What an absolutely insane foreign policy.

I’m so excited to announce my new project, TOWER FALL, a short story of 15,000 words I wrote with my good friend Joshua Hood (Author of Robert Ludlum’s Treadstone series, plus THE GUARDIAN, BURNOUT, and CLEAR BY FIRE). Amazon is releasing TOWER FALL as part of their Pursuit Collection, a gripping assortment of short stories that explore what it means to be predator and prey. My friends Brad Taylor, Don Bentley, Simon Gervais, David McCloskey, and Allison Brennan have also contributed high-octane works to the collection. The Pursuit Collection will be available in e-book and audiobook formats on October 27th! TOWER FALL is all action and heart. It’s about the lengths an estranged couple, both ex-spies, will go to in order to save the life of their daughter. I don’t want to give away any more than that - I hope you will give it a read or a listen and tell us what you think about our story, and I also hope you’ll check out the other writer’s contributions to the collection! Here is the link! You can also find it on @audible_com amazon.com/kindle-dbs/produc…

One of the largest disinformation campaigns in recent years is now unfolding on the X platform. This large-scale bot, troll farm and paid influencer campaign is aimed at deflecting blame away from those that throttled Ukraine's Starshield/Starlink access onto Ukraine itself.

Trump and Musk are just stringing Ukraine along and letting Russia attack it with impunity. And the American press is foolishly falling for blue smoke and mirrors, arguing whether Musk or Trump is responsible. Hint, they both are!
The speed limits on Starlink and Starshield are still there. The speed has not been restored. And the delivery of interceptors to protect us against Russian ballistic missiles is still delayed. We’re waiting for interceptors that were already agreed on. But they are still not coming. This is a real problem, because the Russians attack us almost every single day. All of this is happening while we continue our quite successful operations on the front. We keep defending positions. Things have become harder – partly because of the Starlink and Starshield policies and speed limits. But our frontline is still holding and I am proud of how strong our people are. From an address at the Hudson Institute. (2/3)

Just for the record. We are at war with Iran right now. We have been since *at least*!February 28 (there’s a legitimate argument that it’s been much, much, longer). Whether you think that’s good or bad doesn’t matter. Our naval blockade is an act of war. Iran is shooting at us and our allies. That is an act of war. The way the media — left, right, and center — talks about this “conflict” as if wars are purely legal fictions or solely involve a “war-ish” level of combat serves no one’s interests.

Should be evidence for any congressional inquiries into what happened with Starshield. If Musk is throttling a Pentagon-run defense network, which was commissioned to work in a partner nation as a matter of U.S. policy, because of his own political bias or desire to sway the midterms he’s heavily invested in (see his subsequent tweet), then he represents a national security risk. I’d argue he represents that anyway.
What’s actually going on in Ukraine is that there is a massive incentive difference between the elites and the people. The former have grown very rich off the hundreds of billions flowing to Ukraine, while the latter’s children are conscripted to die in trenches.

Russia would apparently get a stake in Alaska gas venture through this deal which @FT reports was discussed during recent meeting to discuss Ukraine at the Kremlin.
Ex-CEO of $25 billion US gas export venture, launched with involvement of investor tied to the Trump family, has accused Russia's Novatek of secretly controlling the project, prompting mass exodus over fears of violating sanctions. @JamieSmythF @maxseddon ft.com/content/e9cfbfbb-e65a…

Rubio says the Russian invasion of Ukraine is "only about Donbas, about one region of Ukraine." Well, the occupied parts of the Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, and Sumy regions would like a word. Crimea also still exists. Constantly bombed Odesa and Kyiv would like to know why they are being targeted if the war is only about Donbas. Kryvyi Rih asks why Russia is murdering kids in its shopping malls if the war is about Donbas. Lutsk is also confused. Dnipro is targeted constantly. The liberated parts of the Kyiv and Chernihiv regions would like to point out that mass graves of Ukrainians killed by Russian troops didn't appear by magic. It's called a full-scale invasion for a reason! And by the way, Donbas isn't even just "one region", it consists of at least two.
NEW!! Rubio on Russia's war in Ukraine: "... people keep talking about it’s a war in Ukraine.  That war is about Donbas. It’s about one region of the country."

Bend, Oregon man who shot and killed a shooter at his daughters' school speaks out, praises female teacher for fighting the shooter, allowing him to have a clear shot. Kaylub Giamanco says he is haunted by the sound of children pleading for their lives. He also praised the teacher for grabbing the gunman's weapon, allowing him to take a shot at the shooter. "I want to recognize [the teacher]. She gave me the opportunity to make my shot without losing my life..." "I swung the door open, and I stepped in, and I fired, and they dropped to the ground... I looked down at the gunman, and he was scrambling for his weapon. And I looked at him, and I shot him 2 more times..."

The whole administration acts very strangely about this whole episode. They are palpably nervous. Trump keeps answering questions by saying things like "I don't want to answer that" or "why would I tell you?" They are really scared of investigations. This one needs to happen.
Q: "You must know now who ordered the Starlink access in Ukraine to be restricted. Who was it?" Trump: "Well, I wouldn't tell you if I did know. I have no idea."

Once the beacon of global democracy, the U.S. is increasingly discarding alliances with the world's largest economies in favor of a country openly at war with the western world that has an economy smaller than the state of Florida. The US State Department says the Russians are invited to G20.

A typical Trump contradiction that falls apart before basic logic. Like all the "leaks or lies" episodes. He says he can’t be criticized for aiding Russia because he was trying to get back the hostage they took, but also he didn’t give up anything. Can’t be both.
Trump: We were in the midst of negotiating and a lot of stupid people said why aren’t you putting Russian sanctions— Collins: But you said you didn’t give anything for his release Trump: If I didn’t do that, you wouldn’t have him coming back. Collins: So you did give something. Trump: You don’t know anything. You’re fake news CNN. Collins: You’re saying you lifted the sanctions in exchange for his release? Trump: You don’t know what you’re talking about. You’re a low IQ person. You’re a dummy.
