Simon likes to claim that she speaks for her area and that AFE is defending the community against unvetted men being housed in Salford.
But just who are the men that Ashlea Simon surrounds herself with? Are the men of AFE just salt-of-the-earth locals with legitimate concerns? Let's take a look:

I’ve spent the last two hours bathed in the nostalgia of listening to Five Live football commentary. It’s essentially the same kind of audio I used to listen to 70 years ago and on and off since. It’s a warm blanket of voices and feelings. I can almost smell buttered crumpets.

The intro to this great essay by Julian Jackson is a good reminder that hating protest and protestors is just as French as the act of protesting.

The pedophile protection party’s president is laundering right-wing conspiracy theories through the most corrupt DOJ in American history.
Whenever the news turns bad, this creep reaches for one name: mine. So let’s make it crystal clear. My name has always been Ilhan Omar.
Maybe you should focus on what your VP’s real name is.

Takes about 5 seconds to find clips online of me exploring exactly the history that you say it's so unlikely I would discuss. Just how lazy are you!
Replying to @ProudofusUK
I'm wondering if @DavidOlusoga or the @bbc will manage to make a programme on Finding Britains Who Stopped the Slave Trade?
Highly unlikely for two who are so anti-British I would guess. 🤷🏾♂️

One of the stupidest things I’ve ever heard from a UK government. Stock up because of a totally unspecified menagerie of dangers, ‘a dangerous and uncertain world’. What the fuck are they talking about? A desperate ploy to sow fear, low expectations and deference to government.
“Be ready by having some everyday essentials… three litres of water per person per day, tinned goods... to last a few days”
Speaking to @vicderbyshire, Defence Secretary Wes Streeting details advice to households to be prepared for a “dangerous and turbulent world”.

How long will the UK's bankrupt economic orthodoxies retain their stranglehold? Andy Haldane, ex-Bank of England Chief Economist & thus a player in the wasted two decades of decline & stagnation says govt must "take the knife" to UK public spending. All reported with glee!

Major banks have made tens of billions in additional profits as interest rates have risen in recent years.
At the same time, millions of people are facing higher mortgage payments, rising rents and ongoing cost-of-living pressures.
There is a clear opportunity for the Government to tax bank windfall profits and raise up to £15 billion each year for our public services.
That's why I've signed @RichardBurgon's motion, calling on the Government to introduce a tax on bank windfall profits ahead of next week's Budget.

Thanks very much Nate!
The chapter on Right to Buy, the sale of council housing and rising homeownership in Britain is probably the one I'm happiest with in An Injury to All. I think it brings out just how central housing was and still is to class politics.
for people in DSA circles involved in a faction fight over NY housing policy I'd like to suggest you read (at least) the chapter in @ewangibbs's new book An Injury To All about the politics of council housing in the UK in the 80s and 90s. It's good to think with.

Our political debating culture is becoming one in which ideas are second place to insults; surviving that doesn’t meaning becoming thick skinned, hide away or equally rude. It means having a space where you can find happiness and remember what really matters.
Thank you Walthamstow for being a place for me where such joy and purpose can be found in so many ways. The StowHoHouse dance floor for one….
