An 80–85% chance of an opposition victory in Brazil. A confident forecast, with a caveat. Andre Leite, partner and chief investment officer of @TAG_invest, joined Megan Lepage from the Sidelines of the Private Wealth Latin America & Caribbean Retreat in Miami. At the time of recording (afternoon of Oct.22), his firm’s polling models pointed to a clear favorite. But, he cautioned, “this environment is very volatile.” Leite shares the predicted result, how AI helps his team calculate the odds, and what could still upset the forecast. 🔥 Request the agenda to get the full speaker lineup and session topics for #ALTSMIA at Eden Roc Miami Beach, December 7-8: marketsgroup.org/forums/alts… #MarketsGroupPW

Before the commitment, know what kind of alpha you’re getting. US mass-market private credit vehicles collect roughly $9 billion a year in fees. The entire global alpha pool in senior direct lending is about $7.1 billion. So what is the fee actually paying for? Jacob M. of Opto Investments, author of “Looking for Alpha in All the Right Places?”, takes that on with former CAIA Association CEO William J. Kelly of Educational Alpha. 📅 Tuesday, November 17 ⏰ 11 a.m. ET 🎓 Accepted for 1 CFP / IWI / CE credit 🔥 REGISTER for the live webinar: marketsgroup.org/news/webcas… #MarketsGroupWebinar

One investor. Two hats. A different answer depending on which one he’s wearing. For Treasurer Henry (Hank) Levy, serving pension beneficiaries and serving a community bring different considerations to the question: where would your next real estate dollar go? The Alameda County treasurer and ACERA trustee joined @CourtMcQuade from the Sidelines of the 10th Annual Real Estate West Forum in Half Moon Bay. A panelist’s experience with “place-based investing” had given him something to think about closer to home. He also spent 20 years umpiring baseball. Choosing pension investments still makes him miss calling a game. 💥Follow MG on LinkedIn to get Sidelines interviews as soon as they go live. #MarketsGroupRE

Real estate's outlook is "kind of hard to determine." Damien Charléty's answer: "it's really back to the fundamentals." With rates still elevated and the macro picture unsettled, the discipline for a plan his size is careful due diligence and managers who "have a strong thesis backed up by very good data." Charléty, executive officer of the AC Transit Employees' Retirement Plan, joined @CourtMcQuade from the Sidelines of the 10th Annual Real Estate West Forum in Half Moon Bay. He also told McQuade where his panel's consensus landed, and where his next real estate dollar might go. 💥 Follow MG on LinkedIn to get Sidelines interviews as soon as they go live. #MarketsGroupRE

“AI is not only going to change business models, but also our society.” For families, that raises data sovereignty, how assets are held, and “what will be left after singularity, what to invest in now,” says Dr. Bernhard Theuer. Theuer, managing director of WERTEMANUFAKTUR Family Office, joined @CourtMcQuade ahead of the Private Wealth Germany Forum. Those are the questions he wants to put to the panel on the future of family offices in Munich. And what he’s most looking forward to there? Meeting people and “laughing together,” something he says hasn’t changed in 20 years. 🔥 Request the agenda for the full speaker lineup and session topics at the Private Wealth Germany Forum, November 12 in Munich: info.marketsgroup.org/9th-an… #MarketsGroupMunich

Real estate doesn't get a reserved seat in the portfolio. Martha Delgado makes it compete. Last month at #ALTSSF, she told @CourtMcQuade that alternatives have to earn their place. At Real Estate West, she applied the same discipline to property: generating yield is only part of the test. For a grant-making foundation, those decisions help fund real work. Delgado, of the Saint Francis Foundation, San Francisco, joined McQuade from the Sidelines of the 10th Annual Real Estate West Forum in Half Moon Bay to reveal where her next real estate dollar would go, what a "maturity wall" has to do with it, and what she needs that investment to deliver. Industrial was the belle of the ball. Jasmine Nazari says she never left. In her view, industrial has become "a proxy for the parts of real estate that really are working," tracking "where people make things, what they buy, what they move." Nazari, partner at Urban Green Investments, joined @CourtMcQuade from the Sidelines of the 10th Annual Real Estate West Forum in Half Moon Bay. She also told McQuade where her next real estate dollar is going, and why tenants signal what's coming "before you see it in the data." What she takes home from the Retreat: "I leave with better questions than I came with." #MarketsGroupRE
