A wonderful Visit cementing 60 years of dialogue between the Anglican and Catholic Churches and between 🇬🇧 and 🇻🇦. It was an honour to have played a part in it.
23 October 2025: From the ecumenical prayer with Pope Leo XIV in the Sistine Chapel to HM The King becoming ‘Royal Confrater’ at St Paul’s Outside the Walls, we look back at images of the State Visit and the enduring 🇬🇧🇻🇦 bonds it so beautifully celebrated. 📷: Vatican Media

A Buddhist asks about my vocation. I attend my first Orthodox Divine Liturgy. An Anglican prayer for Christian unity moves me deeply. This week’s Durham diary: The Courage to Seek Unity. martinjmagill1.substack.com/…

I would like to thank all those who have prayed for me in recent days. I wish to express my particular gratitude to the doctors, nurses and all the staff of the Gemelli Hospital. This experience has made me feel particularly close to all those who are living with illness or infirmity. Now that I have overcome this delicate phase I will gradually resume my activities, always with God’s help and your prayers.

Let's pray for Pope Leo XIV who will soon undego surgery #PopeLeo
Dear friends, during some recent medical examinations, the doctors found a small, localized nodule in my lung. It was detected at a very early stage and is well-localized. The doctors believe that it is best to intervene, so, following their advice, I have decided to undergo surgery to remove it. The operation is already scheduled to take place in the coming days. I thank you for your spiritual closeness and entrust myself to your prayers.

We are praying for @pomtifex here among the expert group at the Meeting in Amoris Laetitia. He seemed in very good form when he was with us.

So lovely to read this
Replying to @VaticanNews
Hoping all goes well for him. I am not Catholic, nor even religious, but I have a great deal of respect for Pope Leo XIV. Often a voice of sanity in a very messed up world.

The live-streaming of the use of the death penalty is doubly inadmissible.
The death penalty is inadmissible because it is an attack on the inviolability and dignity of the person. The common good can be safeguarded and the requirements of justice can be met without recourse to capital punishment: effective systems of detention have been developed that protect citizens while at the same time do not completely deprive those who are guilty of the possibility of redemption. #NoDeathPenalty

“It is possible to disagree well.” A thought-provoking insight from my sabbatical in Durham. Can we learn to listen better, especially to those with whom we disagree? martinjmagill1.substack.com/…
