"It would seem that many liberals would celebrate if AfriForum only took on the group-based causes of people other than Afrikaners. After all, we are constantly told: 'don’t make it about the Afrikaners'. Always someone else – never the Afrikaners."

The land reform programme adopted after 1994, which is organised around three pillars, exists to advance the cause of restitution. I have heard no Afrikaner take issue with it.
In fact, organisations like AfriForum and Solidarity have said that genuine cases of historical dispossession should be settled through this programme.
The real problem is the racist, collectivist, 1652-type grand narrative of dispossession that paints all Afrikaners as evil, irredeemable criminals, who are collectively in possession of stolen property that must be repossessed through mechanisms like the Expropriation Act.
The message underlying this racist attempt at theft is unmistakable: they should consider themselves lucky to be alive, as Tutu and others have said in the past. They must surrender all their property if they wish to live peacefully in this part of the world.
Van der Rheede, this is unmistakably persecution. We must not tiptoe around the truth.

When we talk about permission structures of stigmatisation and violence being created around Afrikaners, here's a good, vivid illustration.
Afrikaners are evil incarnate, so shed not a tear for whatever issues they might face:

"In Africa there is no industrialisation or value-creation, Jozef Síkela, the EU commissioner for international partnerships told Rapporteur, in a blunt economic assessment of Europe’s southern continental neighbour.
“When you look [at] development in Africa, when you look [at] the global manufacturing value-added, it is stagnating for almost two decades below 2%,” Síkela said in an interview. “In [the] Sahel, it is slightly above 1%. So nothing is changing. There is no electrification, there is no industrialisation, there is no value-creation in Africa.”"
The universal gesture of entitlement - "pay me" - that characterises the coercive and harmful nature of socialistic public policy. Total disrespect to taxpayers.
And they're both laughing about it.
On behalf of the government and the people of South Africa I congratulate my dear brother and friend, President @LulaOficial and the people of Brazil.
This victory will echo beyond the shores of Brazil. It is a victory for the global south and progressive forces throughout the world.
We affirm our commitment to continue strengthening bilateral relations between our two countries and working closely together in all multilateral fora to forge a just and better world order underpinned by solidarity and adherence to international law.

Apartheid ended in 1994. Race-based legislation did not.
South Africa still has 145 race laws on its statute books, 38% of which were adopted after apartheid.
The FMF's Dr @Martin_ASFL makes it clear: racial discrimination cannot be justified as redress. South Africa needs equality before the law, not more race-based legislation.

When we call you commies, you pull out the usual "rooi gevaar" card.
And yet here you are supporting one.
Or what, this is being driven by your hatred for the "far-right that is spreading misinformation and disinformation"?

The people praising that filthy commie Lula would never want to live in Brazil.
For them, it’s all about vibes and feeling good about the fact that democracy has supposedly triumphed over “right-wing authoritarianism”, “misinformation”, and other such hogwash.
While they celebrate the defeat of Trump and his “evil right-wing allies”, it is the Brazilian people who will continue to bear the brunt of disastrous policies.
Brazil needs a proper right-wing leader without any scandals as @JacoKleynhans has correctly argued.
- This is an immensely offensive piece of media.
- I am militantly pro-Israel.
- The government should not ban the film or punish those who possess it or similar "documentaries" (a strong word) targeting other groups.

Martin, I don't think, fully realises the historical importance of what he has done. Something so mundane like a list of race laws has had a huge impact on how others see South Africa. Bookmark this post for future years when historians look back.

"Intentions are not a seriously recognised test in public policy or lawmaking for whether a given law is beneficial or harmful. We must look to the actual text and effect of the law to determine that. Intention plays no substantive role."

This is how we Iranians repay our true friends’ support and loyalty with everything we have and can!
British Columbia is home to one of the largest and most vibrant Iranian communities in Canada. When the Conservative Party and its leader stood firmly with the Iranian people and His Majesty King Reza Pahlavi, we stood with them in return. Today British Columbia answered with a historic Conservative majority!
We never forget those who stand with us!

Governor Jared Polis represents the only sensible and valid form that the Democratic Party in the United States can take. A tiny island of common sense.
Good.
Safety is always primarily your own responsibility. It's nice when the state can take care of it, but the buck and consequences rest with you.
Giving the people permission to solve a problem the state is too politically compromised to touch, is a rare opportunity.
Paris's top cop advised shop-owners to provide for their own security during this weekend's riots. The rock-bottom, core purpose of government is to protect its citizens. A government that admits it can't do that is a government in defeat.

Some “expert” on International Relations reckons that losing AGOA will have minimal impact on South Africa and that we can simply find new markets on the African continent.
Yes, we just need to penetrate the African market and everything will be okay. We can do it by the click of a button.
The African market can buy at the exact rate that the US market does.
Says an “expert”.
This promises to be another excellent documentary by @Joe_Emilio_ about one of SA's most taboo topics. 💪
The first step to stopping the chaos is to understand it.
In 2018, violent protests and a controversial land invasion changed Hermanus forever. A protected milkwood forest was destroyed, political promises were broken, and serious questions remain unanswered.
Who failed to act? Who benefited? And how was this allowed to happen?
Stolen Ground: The Hermanus Story investigates the political failures, broken promises and events that led to the Schulphoek land invasion.
The land was taken. The truth was buried.
