The high school in Htan Taw village, Ye-U, was allegedly hit by SAC airstrikes on 9 May 2023, with heavy damage to school buildings including the library.
According to local media, the high school buildings were actually being used to teach catch-up classes to younger children under the age of ten.
Reportedly, the children had already been sent home for the day when the school was struck at roughly 2pm local time.
Myanmar Witness geolocated footage of damage to the school published shortly after the incident by Mandalay Free Press.

We need a full independent inquiry into the killing of these two dogs & the tasering of this man by the Met Police in a residential area in East London on Monday. The police have provided no evidence the dogs attacked any member of the public or other dogs. According to media reports, SAC airstrikes hit Bon Ma Tee village and two other nearby villages in Htantabin township on 2 May 2023.
Claims vary in terms of the number of people killed and injured, but agree that a woman’s head was blown off during the strikes.
Myanmar Witness geolocated footage of the strikes by stitching together stills and matching the horizon line of the mountain range to Google Earth imagery.
