Reaching 600,000 cleared #explosive threats is a major milestone for the Project Masam family, our supporters and local partners. Renewed #fighting, fresh mine-laying and continuing civilian exposure mean clearance, #emergency response and risk education remain essential across #Yemen.
#MineAction #ProtectCivilians
More than eight years of #humanitarian clearance in #Yemen have demanded sustained technical expertise, discipline and adaptability across desert, mountain and coastal terrain, alongside changing security conditions and complex #explosive contamination.
#MineAction
Across #Yemen, 18.3 million people now face acute #foodinsecurity, while #conflict disruption and rising prices are putting further pressure on household food access. In this context, clearing agricultural land matters: restoring safer access to farmland helps protect local food production, livelihoods and household resilience.
#MineAction #FoodSecurity #farming
Each #explosive threat removed reduces civilian risk, but #Yemen’s contamination picture is not static. Renewed #fighting and fresh #Houthi mine-laying in Taiz and along the Red Sea Coast are creating new hazards even in areas previously subjected to #humanitarian clearance.
#MineAction #ProtectCivilians
A civilian report can trigger an entire technical response, from assessment and identification to clearance or disposal and confirmation that an area can be used more safely. That response depends on trust: strong relationships with local communities encourage earlier reporting, improve local information and help ensure suspected #explosive items like #landmines or #IEds are reported rather than approached or moved.
#Yemen #MineAction
When people think of #humanitarian mine clearance, they often picture the moment an #explosive item is found and removed. Our work starts much earlier, with survey defining the hazardous area, threat and terrain shaping the methodology, and #demining teams searching systematically to the required depth before land is checked and released for civilian use.
#MineAction #EOD
#Explosive contamination can outlast the fighting that created it by years or decades. We believe sustained clearance, risk education and #advocacy are essential to #Yemen’s longer-term #recovery.
#MineAction
With 22.3 million people in #Yemen needing #humanitarian assistance and more than 280,000 displaced by the latest fighting, safer access to roads, farmland and essential services is increasingly critical.
#MineAction
Project Masam's 600,000 #explosive threats cleared milestone gives some indication of the scale of explosive contamination our demining teams continue to encounter across #Yemen.
#MineAction
When Project Masam clears a mine from agricultural land, the impact extends beyond the removal of an #explosive threat: #farmers can return to their fields, families can recover a source of #income and food, and communities regain safer access to land they depend on.

#Yemen #MineAction #farming
Reaching 600,000 #explosive threats cleared has required years of technically demanding and dangerous work in some of #Yemen’s most challenging environments. Project Masam’s #demining and #EOD teams continue to confront those risks every day to protect civilians and make contaminated areas safer.
#MineAction #ProtectCivilians
The clearance of 600,000 #landmines, UXO and #IEDs reflects both the extraordinary scale of #explosive contamination in #Yemen and the sustained effort required to address it. Every item removed means one less threat to civilians and one more step towards restoring safe access to land.
#MineAction #ProtectCivilians
The 600,000 #explosive threats Project Masam has cleared across #Yemen have helped reduce the risks facing civilians amid one of the world’s worst #humanitarian crises, where clearance can mean lives and limbs saved, breadwinners able to keep providing, mothers reaching #maternity care safely, and displaced families returning home without explosive contamination standing in their way.

"I am immensely proud of what our teams have achieved and of the commitment they have shown throughout more than eight years of humanitarian Mine Action operations in one of the world’s most challenging environments: #Yemen,” MD @AlgosaibiOusama said.
"This milestone also carries the memory of colleagues who gave their lives protecting others. We remember them with profound gratitude."

Did you know? Between June 2018 and 30 October 2026, Project Masam teams cleared 600,000 #landmines, items of UXO and #IEDs across #Yemen, with more than 86.7 million m² of land cleared.
The milestone reflects more than eight years of field operations dedicated to protecting civilians and making contaminated land safer for communities.

Our MD @AlgosaibiOusama said reaching 600,000 explosive items cleared in #Yemen was the result of a collective effort, from #deminers and #EOD teams in the field to medics, #security, logistics, training, EORE, media and local partners supporting operations behind the scenes.
🕊️ That work has also carried a profound human cost, with Project Masam personnel killed and injured while carrying out their #humanitarian mission in Yemen.
So far in October, Project Masam teams have cleared 6,511 #explosive threats across #Yemen: 107 anti-personnel #landmines, 277 anti-tank mines, 6,100 UXO and 27 IEDs. Our deminig teams have also cleared 945,977 m² of land despite significant security-related restrictions.
