i want to believe this was a real cancer kid who just wanted to write well enough to say something poignant
but in my heart i do not :(
at last we have built the slaughterbot from the classic cautionary tale "don't fucking build the slaughterbot you idiot are you kidding me"
this needs to be chemical weapons levels of banned jfc
Purdue University's IDEAS Lab built an autonomous drone that tracks runners through dense forests completely without GPS or cloud networks.
By running 3D LiDAR mapping and obstacle-avoidance AI entirely on-chip, it can weave under tree canopies and predict target movement through blind spots in real time.
Massive implications for next-gen search & rescue and edge AI.
ooh this might be popping off

Mary has spent her life in a colorless room, learning everything there is to know about colour. at the end of her life she finally steps outside and sees red for the first time
"wait, THAT's red??" says Mary
"it looks exactly like A-flat"
does anyone know the details of how X tweaks its algorithm for various capital interests? i notice it most with the video stuff, it becomes clear that the algo is promoting an IP or actor because there's something new out
other conventions i would change were i to possess divine power:
the north pole would be a north pole
the circle constant would be tau = 2*pi
pianos would default to janko keys, and the notes A-F would be a whole-tone row

sidebar any rational society would have positive electrons and negative protons but we got fucked over by benjamin franklin
it's suspicious that i was born a month after the berlin wall fell. like they had to skip the sim past nuclear annihilation to give me a shot at the singularity
it bothers me that they don't mention that the "tachyons only" universe is indistinguishable from ours. breaks the obvious (and true) symmetry of the graph
words are ringing in my mind's ear like a half-remembered dream, something out of time, so long ago as to be a whisp of a memory
"i let eliezer out of the box"
hear me out, mathematicians entering ai alignment maybe consider this challenge. i think its probably millennium level problem(?)
take any complex real world software, like a browser or a kernel. let's pick a kvm based sandbox, which i suspect is somewhat less complex than chromium(?), running an increasingly capable, potentially adversarial AI agent.
we want to formally prove one simple property, no matter what code the agent executes inside the VM, it cannot escape and compromise the host. for that we need to prove the entire relevant software stack, kvm, cpu virtualization, kernel, virutal devices that could affect the isolation. (to make things easiers, lets assume hardware wont have weird states)
can we mathematically establish whether formally verifying a system of this complexity is even computationally feasible?
