I think there's a chance, Greggo.
Not a chance in hell Jeff Traylor will leave UTSA…
He has the most secure coaching gig in the country…
If he wants to, he can coach there another 20 years and not be fired…
Why would he want to go to Baylor and get fired in three years because he can’t win a national title…
Sometimes it’s about happiness and security, and not a quest of unattainable goals
.@BUFootball made a major announcement during Sunday School this morning. Here's my reaction to Dave Aranda's firing.

I think there are plenty of examples where firing a coach midseason gives schools a headstart on the search. And having a replacement ready to roll obviously helps you with player retention/portal.

Unless he's hiring someone the day after the season, how much of an advantage does he really have?

Jeff Traylor is the safest hire. He's a legendary former hs coach in the same mold as Joey McGuire. Jason Eck is probably the most exciting candidate based on his personality and what he's done at UNM. I understand the Lincoln Riley thing, but I'd prefer Traylor or Eck.
There’s a big opening at Baylor. There’s a lot of good coaches with Texas roots who really want this job. Expect a big swing — and keep an eye on these names.

Sources: Texas star left tackle Trevor Goosby will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a knee injury against Ole Miss on Saturday. Goosby is the country’s top NFL prospect at left tackle, as ESPN’s Field Yates ranked him the No. 8 pick in his most recent mock draft.
I'm not trying to get in a debate, but I think all those G6 jobs are harder when you have fewer resources and constant roster turnover because of players being plucked. That's why most of those guys would kill to have the BU job. Great resources, facilities, etc.

Coach Aranda will always hold a special place in my heart. While facing the uncertainty of Josh's recruitment not going as we hoped, he assured me that my son as a PWO would be given equal opportunity to compete. Coach Aranda never backed away from that promise & his perferred walk-on WR earned a scholarship in year 1, and eventually became a starter & captain on the team.
This is a tough business and winning absolutely matters. Coach understands that, and I have no doubt that he'll continue onward & upward into his next opportunity. God bless you, Coach Aranda and thank you for being part of Josh's journey. Sic'em Bears 💚💛🙏🏾 – at Cedar Park, TX

Baylor getting to the coaching market first while TCU is in a state of administrative disarray feels significant.
Before I start listing all the candidates, I'd like to say @CoachDaveAranda is the most authentic coach I've covered over the years. He was a very logical hire after winning the natl title at LSU, but the seismic change with NIL/portal was a poor fit for him, unfortunately.
