To anyone who wonders why players don't report, why they don't speak up, why disclosures can be delayed by years and even decades, this is why. John Doe disclosed allegations of sexual abuse to people in positions of power & authority who he trusted. This was the response:

For 3 weeks after this group was informed of allegations, no action was taken. During that period, Aldrich traveled & worked w/ the team. He celebrated with the team, in the presence of John Doe. He got his own day with the Cup. He got a ring. Then he was given option to resign.

Quenneville and Cheveldayoff had both denied knowing about the allegations at the time when they were first asked in July.

Schar says Blackhawks officials held a May 23, 2010, meeting to discuss the allegations of sexual assault. Those present included John McDonough, Stan Bowman, Joel Quenneville, Jay Blunk and Kevin Cheveldayoff, Schar said.

If you’re a Leaf fan, imagine five years ago somebody telling you that Joe Thornton would be feeding John Tavares for a goal and it would be good news on a night when the really big stars hadn’t scored yet.

The Leafs are a juggernaut – and despite what their detractors say, their strength of schedule has very little to do with it: theathletic.com/2422194/2021…
