@MattStrassler has some fantastic (highly pedagogical) physics articles.

Have you ever wondered about what's going on with the double slit experiment? If so, you owe it to yourself to read @MattStrassler's brilliant series of blog posts on the topic.

Great post by @MattStrassler about the differences between the wavefunction in QM and QFT
#Wave functions in #quantum field theory are hard to visualize, & thus hard to understand. Today I address that problem, partially depicting the wave function for a field's vacuum state (no "particles") & comparing it to that of a state with 1 "particle". profmattstrassler.com/2025/0…

This series is getting interesting. The way @MattStrassler is presenting things here has something to teach experts as well, I think a lot of physicists are not used to thinking about QFT wavefunctions this concretely.

It’s no exaggeration to say that our lives depend upon the Higgs field. Were it somehow shut off, the consequences would be catastrophic. @MattStrassler elucidates a graph from the Large Hadron Collider, which charts new cosmic frequencies. pioneerworks.org/broadcast/p…

What does the cosmic instrument really sound like? For PW Broadcast, @MattStrassler elucidates a graph from the world’s largest and most powerful particle accelerator, the LHC. pioneerworks.org/broadcast/p…

Thanks Professor for all the math that dscribes the Higgs field. Does anyone have any notions in regards to how any fields existing throughout all of spacetime come to exist? Does anyone have an idea of what spacetime (the impossible sea) is, and how it gets its properties?

Not to mention that many postdocs and soft money researchers depend on them to actually keep feeding their families, and depending on the granting organization it can come to the will of a single individual to deny it
Matt Strassler retweeted
Also, grants are grueling since the future of a lot of people depends on that

I like Sabine. She speaks clear language and even a nitwit like me can understand most things she explains. I didn't realize people had an issue with her.. At least she isn't afraid to speak her mind on scientific topics. Hossenfelder for the win !

I think out of all @seanmcarroll episodes on Mindscape, I have listened to @MattStrassler episode a million times.
This quote, "Things are named before they're understood. And very rarely are they renamed once it becomes clear what is going on.😂😂

Yes, I'd pick this great one by @MattStrassler along with “Quanta and Fields” by @seanmcarroll, as the best #science books in 2024, at least in #physics, and they'd be at the top of a list of all those published to date to bring QFT closer and more affordable to a wider audience
“Waves in an Impossible Sea”: The 2024 science book of the year
With so many new science books this year, I found @MattStrassler's "Waves in an Impossible Sea" to be far and away my favorite.
Here's my summary, plus a deep Q&A interview with the author!

I think about how we move through the "nothingness" of the universe on our beautiful planet. No matter what unknown properties our universe has, it is the constant movement of everything, and I am sure, also of time 😊

Can totally confirm this, love this book....one of those I will read again and again, thank you @MattStrassler, It is the perfect mixture of scientific facts and vivid presentation. At no point does it become cumbersome.
