Excited to share our latest paper in @GlobalChangeBio! 🐳Here we examined bowhead and narwhal genomics and the legacy of commercial whaling: dx.doi.org/10.1111/gcb.17528

Thanks Madison :) Nice conceptual diagram! Yes Luke started the project and did the experiments, we just did our best to make his work shine.

It was great to work on this paper with you! 🐦🧬🪶🧬
Check out our new paper! We looked at migration timing and genomics in purple martins across North America. Thank you to collaborators @MattThorstensen, @KevinCFraser, @kedelmore, @alexander_suh!

A 🧵outline of our new paper on northern bottlenose whale genomics, now OA in @molecology looking at population structure, demographic history, and regions under selection! doi.org/10.1111/mec.16643 @TonyEinfeldt @ColinGarroway @deepdivewhales Photo: NBW Project
This species at risk work has been published @J_Exp_Biol! Alternative splicing and gene expression may interact in response to an acute thermal stressor.

New preprint! Redside dace in Canada are faced with increasing temperatures. What transcriptomic mechanisms do they use to respond to acute heat stress?

Thanks again to @amphibiousfish @kenmjeffries @PitcherLab and Daniel Heath! This project really came together.
@evelien_degreef did the fantastic redside dace illustration!
New review paper out! Many freshwater fish need conservation help, and movement research can be important for supporting that help. But can we conduct integrative movement research with non-lethal sampling? 1/6

Thanks to @CarolynVanderv4 @wbuggiii @sonyamich3 @LinhMil89455622 @theresaemackey @mjlawrence27 @kenmjeffries for working so hard on this, I think it turned out pretty well. 6/6
And thank you @evelien_degreef for the drawings! They're small in the figure, but I love the detail in them.

Excited to share a new preprint from my @umanitoba Postdoc with @alielw, @ColinGarroway and @MargaretDocker! A 🧵 (1/n) on sex chromosome evolution, sea lamprey & our approach!

We also identified a whole bunch of cool patterns in gene expression and splicing, such as connections with mitochondria among spliced genes. Along the way, we assembled+annotated a transcriptome for the redside dace.
This was a great collaboration with @amphibiousfish @kenmjeffries @PitcherLab and Daniel Heath (not on Twitter I think). We hope to get it published soon!
