Data shows that drink drivers are more likely to be men, aged 25 to 49, who are travelling alone. Offences are more likely to happen on 30mph roads because offenders are more likely to be travelling short distances close to home, such as returning from a licenced premises. Drink drive collisions are more likely to happen when it’s dark. Do you know someone who drink drives? Are You Mate Enough to have a word before it’s too late? #OpLimit

Hauliers are frustrated that there’s still been no movement on increasing HGV speed limits in #Scotland from 40mph to 50mph.
@RHA_MReid, our Policy Director told @_transportnews that Scotland’s businesses are a competitive disadvantage to firms in England and Wales which adopted 50mph in 2015.
He said: “In 2020 a report evaluating the changes in England and Wales was published, and so this data has been around and freely available for five years now.”

Road crashes in the UK remain a major challenge. Over 1,600 people lose their lives and 30,000 are seriously injured every year, costing society over £55billion.
These tragedies are not inevitable. PACTS has set out key recommendations to help shape the Government’s forthcoming road safety strategy - focused on harm reduction and grounded in internationally recognised Safe System principles. With bold action, we can save lives and reduce serious injuries.
