I hope the prime minister is aware that salaries of postdoctoral researchers have reached such a low level in this country that this law would make it impossible for UK scientists to employ international experts
It would be a huge own goal!

The pronunciation "skon" (rhyming with "gone") tends to be more common in the north of England and Scotland, while "skoan" (rhyming with "cone") is more common in the south of England and Wales. Ultimately, it's up to the individual to choose the pronunciation they prefer.
