Industry partners seem to be forgetting that Genetic Gain ends at Conception🤯 At which point management error takes over! Genomic testing for the purpose of culling is useless. Spend 💸 somewhere with pay back! Measure something tangible to get better at eliminating failures!

75% of the best critical thinkers in America fell for 5-10 obvious major media hoaxes in the past five years (and still don’t know it). We also need to teach bullshit detection. That’s different.

The overarching problem is that we need better mental firewalls for the information constantly coming at us. Critical & first principles thinking should be a required course in middle school. Who wrote the software running in your head? Are you sure you actually want it there?

Managing to your top 10-20% at the expense of bottom 80% won’t make you artificially high PR any more profitable. This graph only marginally changes at the herd level. Peak production is predicted by transition not after.#fix transition and repro follows pull the 🩹 #4eventcows

Couldn’t agree more!! Milking your management failures quickly eats away any premium from terminal crosses.

Please learn from the mistakes of (many) others. It's attractive to limit heifer numbers, breed some to sexed, lots to beef, not breed from the bottom end genetic heifers etc, but unless you have enough heifers to replace your old cows your herd is getting *worse* not better.

Colostrum can have benefits that last long beyond the first 48 hours. Farms across North America are seeing the Post Day One difference, like Vermeer's Dairy Ltd of Camrose, AB. #colostrum #animalhealth #calfhealth #altagenetics
