Ackman thinks that the job of the Israeli government is to look good in the eyes of the gentiles instead of defending its citizens against the Jihad. Sad! Pro tip Bill: people respect you when you are strong.
I said I wasn’t going to weigh in on who should be prime minister of Israel as that is a decision for Israeli citizens. I did, however, want to share one point of view from the perspective of someone who has an understanding of how Israel is perceived in America. Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich have caused Israel enormous reputational damage with their statements and actions which are presented in the global media as representing the voice and will of all Israelis. As such, a government formed without Ben-Gvir and Smotrich will send a message to the rest of the world that Israel is turning a new page. This will allow Israel to rebuild lost credibility, increase the opportunity for an expansion of the Abraham Accords, and enjoy a better relationship with Democrats and Republicans and Americans at large.

Thanks to everyone who came out to at least one of the four @peterthiel lectures, but a huge thank you to the people who attended all four. Despite all the obvious complaints, I'm excited about the future of Nashville. There is still much work to do, but pulling together over a thousand people to attend a series of dense talks on the biblical antichrist in the, until now, neglected and forgotten downtown Masonic Lodge indicates that there is an intellectual curiosity in the area that is easy to miss for the neon glow of Broadway. When we started @realpamphleteer five years ago, the goal was to reinvigorate discussions around local matters. Part of how we do this is approaching the largest questions facing mankind and reflecting them through the prism of local concerns. This is essentially what the Effective Altruists do. Every speed bump is a life saved. Minuscule policy decisions like property setbacks, right on red prohibitions, zoning laws, and education policy are imbued with a higher ideological valence. If we are to engage in local matters, we need to re-enchant them in our own, distinct way. Rome is a symbol now, but it was once a city with all the laws, codes, and protocols that entailed — obscure easements around a building's ability to access unobstructed sunlight, for example. The question of how to "reinvigorate" urban politics contra the Mamdani-DSA-EA-Omni Cause cargo cult is at its root a spiritual question. And how we elevate and advance these concerns above the increasingly boring and dysfunctional theatrics coming out of Washington DC is a question of how we orient ourselves in relation to the world. Nashville is uniquely positioned here with its deep, abiding Christian heritage and as the progenitor of the most widely appreciated, distinctly American cultural product in the country. Thank you also to @NWSteury and @meriwetheracdmy without whom, the event wouldn't have gone off as smoothly as it did.

I am not bullish on homeschooling at all. I know that someone like me is "supposed to" be, but I just can't muster any enthusiasm for it. As an "emergency measure" when local public schools are awful, and when solid Catholic schools are either absent or unaffordable? OK -- it's a valid survival strategy in those cases. It's one way to cope, but I could never affirm homeschooling as the "ideal" way to educate children. That's because I believe in civilization. Hiding out in the woods and attempting to reproduce basic public goods is not really my cup of tea. I'd much rather see the basic infrastructure of producing a virtuous citizenry exist again, and if that's not in the public schools -- OK, I'll find a way to earn enough to pay for an ICLE or Newman certified Catholic school, where there are teachers who speak Greek and Latin, are Canon lawyers, and so on. I'd be thrilled to support such schools where they exist, and will even move far away to be near one if I must. Where some look at homeschooling and see freedom and security, I see a kind of longhoused, burnout-inducing, inadequate, cloistered, and basically anti-civilizational affair. And by what I've seen of the results, "hiding in the woods with mommy" in this fashion seems to make for poorly-socialized kids, feminized boys, and a neurotic, paranoiac attitude. There are exceptions, but the exceptions are not the rule. Exhausted moms who are nursing babies, perhaps have morning sickness, teenager needs help with the math, 8-year-old with the reading, 5-year-old needs a snack, 2-year-old just hit his head on the table and is crying, the house needs cleaned, the goat just got loose, call-dad-the-fridge-is-broken -- it's chaos. Yes, some people manage it if they have a sufficiently workaholic mother in the home. But of course, if you do not believe in birth control, eventually you will have so many kids that even superhuman moms cannot handle it -- and the kids' education will be the first thing to suffer. If there are smartphones or video games in the house -- it's all downhill from there. I do not think that this "trend" will be looked up on favorably in 20 years' time. We meet more and more families who, after many years of trying their best to homeschool, eventually decide to enroll their kids in school. They're often intensely guilty about this, and face an incredible amount of shame from the hardcore homeschoolers (who almost brag about how exhausted they are). But they shouldn't face shame. Part of living in a civilization means accepting a division of labor; and in education, this means finding sufficiently virtuous and scholarly teachers to teach your kids things that you are not at all equipped to teach. Our situation with schooling in the USA is not a good one, but giving up on society is the wrong response. I thank God for the Catholic schools out there that actually teach the Faith, read the Classics, and do their best to keep tuition affordable. Come hell or high water -- our kids will be enrolled in such a school no matter what it costs me.

My remarks at NatCon Jerusalem. I'm grateful to @yhazony for the invitation, which I consider to be quite liberal of him! It may surprise people to hear, but my remarks were, on the whole, quite well received by the audience. I had many lovely interactions with participants and conference-goers alike. Some agreed with my take. Others less so. Several people brought up their appreciation for James Lindsay, which given the setting came as a surprise. The right is divided, but it is not at all clear that the future of the movement is yet set. Yoram is fostering conversations between the factions, which are in some cases bitterly divided. That is not to say he doesn't draw lines. His public comments regarding Tucker make that clear. Yoram and I likely disagree about where the boundaries are. Trying to be coalitional in a partisan moment is a thankless task. The path is fraught. But for my part, I will say that Yoram reached out to me, a man with whom he has disagreements, and invited me to his conference. He did so months ago, when I was still fresh off my public separation with Daily Wire. It was a particularly low moment for me, one in which it would have been very easy not to have acknowledged me. He did not ask me to speak on or to avoid any issue or topic. He just reached down to a bruised man and asked him to share his opinions, which I was honored to do. Of course, this is X, so feel free to fight it out in the comments! @NatConTalk

The new factions of the Democratic Party consist of liberals who support open borders, leftists who support open borders, communists who support open borders, and terrorists who support open borders. They may not agree on everything, but the one thing they all have in common is a desire for infinity illegal migration and amnesty.

Listening to Fuentes on NatCon because of course. And he's saying the purpose of NatCon is to dilute nationalism to make it acceptable. "They (figures like Rubio, De Santis, and Vance) will find ways to synthesize a race-blind view of America and a pro-Israel policy with nationalism. They will say: 'We're in favor of nationalism. We're pro-God, pro-family, close the borders, against immigration--just like Israel does.'" And it's like...aren't you sawing off the branch you're sitting on? What it sounds like to me is...with the Zionists, you win. Like, if the price for getting rid of DEI and shutting down immigration is having race-blind rhetoric and being moderately pro-Israel, 90% of young nationalists will happily make that bargain. (The remaining 10% will scream bloody murder, but, well, that's what happens when you lose. And you lose because...with the Zionists, you win.)

Some economic complaints are valid, others aren't. Regardless, the Biden administration tried telling people "everything's fine" – didn't work. The Trump administration doesn't need to adopt left-wing economics to let people know their complaints aren't falling on deaf ears.
WELL SAID 🔥 @VP: “You have a few tone deaf Republicans who say, 'Shut up if you're pissed off about a $22 burrito.' My response to that is: NO. Listen to people who are upset with the state of the economy. If we don’t listen to people, we will turn into the very thing that we hate.” 🇺🇸

What a day to be Israeli: A muslim pilot tried to crash their plane. Then they landed in Saudi Arabia, where Muslims took care of them. Thank God they landed in Saudi Arabia. Imagine landing in Spain, the Netherlands or Ireland. The local “progressives” would probably demand they declare they’re not Zionists before handing them a glass of water.
