Until we get serious & confiscate cars permanently when high speed/high range drink drivers are nabbed, people will continue to do this & we’ll wonder why the road toll is too high.
Meantime, talking about ‘fatal five’ & road safety campaigns are falling on deaf, uncaring ears.
A new state gov campaign calls on parents, spectators & supporters to stop the abuse at community sport level (someone else might say “lower the temperature”), as research shows negative sideline behaviour contributes to volunteer & player burnout, with many leaving their sport.
The kids were well behaved overnight BUT..
-a 41yo Athol Pk man & 61yo Beulah Pk man arrested, both shone lasers at the police helicopter at 1030 & 11pm.
-3 ppl 57, 55 & 33yo injured, one airlifted to hosp after falling from back of a ute driven around Quorn. 51yo woman charged.
A truck has collided with a train at Ceduna this afternoon, at the intersection of Goode & Otc Roads, derailing carriages & damaging the rail line.
The road and rail line will be closed for several days.
There are no reports of injuries.
Police are investigating.
The state gov to provide $2.3m to underground power lines along Seppeltsfield Rd in the Barossa Valley to save the Avenue of Palms, planted during the Great Depression.
The amount is the local council’s share of the cost of undergrounding the lines.

I appreciate they (rightly) let me off 1 fine snapped by this car (1 of 3) but I couldn’t resist.

Police had responded to a brawl in Hindley St when one ran off.
Patrols found the man struggling in the river.
3 jumped in to save him, holding him above water until others got them out.

I worked at Woolworths there, after school and Sat mornings 1979-1981.
I remember the free public transport on the day. It was school holidays (4 term years) and buses and trains were packed.
