Today marks the third anniversary of the senseless murder of Samantha Woll, a former member of my staff, a proud Jewish woman, and a remarkable community leader whose impact continues to be felt across Metro Detroit and beyond. Sam believed deeply in the power of people of different faiths, backgrounds, and perspectives to come together, listen to one another, and build a better future. Through her leadership, her advocacy, and her work to strengthen interfaith relationships, she showed us that bridge-building is not simply an ideal but a commitment we must choose every day. As Sam said, “We do not know where we are going, but we are headed there together.” We have a responsibility to live up to those words and continue the work she cared so deeply about. May her memory be a blessing, and may her example continue to guide us.
