The first 72 hours after a fraudulent wire decide whether your money comes back.
Once funds leave your account, they don't sit still — attackers move them through layered mule accounts to break the trail.
The FBI's Financial Fraud Kill Chain can freeze a qualifying wire before it disappears, but only if you act fast and hit every requirement: the right dollar threshold, an IC3 report, a bank recall request, and the narrow reporting window.
Our latest article walks through the wire fraud "kill chain" step by step — what to do in the critical first hours, the four conditions that make a freeze possible, and where victims lose precious time.
If you or your business has been hit by a fraudulent wire or business email compromise, time is critical.

Stolen USDC isn’t something Circle can just reverse.
Once it leaves your wallet, the issuer doesn’t control the keys.
New piece on what the GENIUS Act actually requires of stablecoin issuers, why a freeze isn’t the same as a reversal, and the real paths to recovery:
IC3 + issuer notice, federal forfeiture, and a NY Supreme
Court TRO.

A tracing report is not a recovery.
After a crypto theft, a forensic PDF can show where the coins went; but it can't freeze an exchange account, issue a seizure warrant, or get the funds back.
Private firms don't have subpoena or forfeiture power.
That authority is vested in law enforcement under 18 U.S.C. § 981. Tracing is evidence.
Recovery requires legal process.dilendorf.com/blog/why-traci…

My advice is to stop using cold storage and self custody.
It seems like no matter what you do you’re going to get scammed, hacked or drained.
Pick a legitimate major exchange and just move your assets there.
Crazy to say but it seems safer
Yesterday, I turned on my Ledger wallet and tried to transfer a payment of $4,050. When I attempted the transaction, it showed as failed. After the payment failed, Ledger Live prompted me to update the wallet application.
I proceeded with the update, which took around 10–20 minutes to install. However, after the update was completed, I noticed that the $330,000+ worth of USDT (TRC-20) that had been stored in my wallet was no longer showing. Instead, my Ledger Live account was only showing $4.95.
I have been using a Ledger Nano S Plus hardware wallet, and I had been storing these funds on it through my MacBook for more than 2–3 years. The funds were there before the update, but immediately after updating Ledger Live, they were no longer visible.
I am extremely concerned because it appears that my entire balance of more than $330,000 in USDT has disappeared/stolen after the Ledger Live update. I need an urgent investigation to determine what happened to my funds and whether they can be recovered.

Erebor secured approval from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, positioning itself to become “the most regulated entity conducting and facilitating stablecoin transactions.”

“Make no mistake: what we are dealing with is a real and mysterious creature, not a simple and predictable machine."
“People are spending tremendous amounts to convince you that it’s not an AI about to go into a hard takeoff, it’s just a tool...
It’s just a machine, and machines are things we master.”
"The central challenge for all of us is characterizing these strange creatures now around us and ensuring that the world sees them as they are."
We are growing extremely powerful systems that we do not fully understand. Each time we grow a larger system, we run tests on it. And the bigger and more complicated you make these systems, the more they seem to display awareness that they are things.
It is as if you are making hammers in a hammer factory and one day the hammer that comes off the line says, “I am a hammer, how interesting!” This is very unusual!"

🚨SCOOP: A dust-up between Senate Democrats and Republicans over a leaked DeFi regulation proposal from Democrats is unfolding behind the scenes, stalling bipartisan market structure talks and potentially pushing a markup date even further out. More to come in tomorrow’s @CryptoAmerica_ newsletter. Stay tuned.
Over the past six years, our team has handled more than 100 crypto-hack arbitration and recovery cases before AAA, NAMS, and JAMS.
One thing is certain: keeping crypto on U.S. exchanges is not safe.
Under most exchange user agreements, the risk of loss rests entirely on the customer.
If your account is hacked or compromised, the exchange bears no responsibility.
That’s why having a comprehensive crypto asset protection and estate plan is essential — ideally supported by institutional-grade security and insurance coverage against cyber theft from reputable providers.
In this video, I discuss practical legal strategies for protecting your crypto through trusts, Family Limited Partnerships, and insured structures designed around your individual goals.

Thank you, @DonnaRedel, for organizing such an insightful @FordhamLawBlock Symposium.
It was a privilege to attend and connect with industry leaders on the evolving landscape of blockchain regulation.
The fireside chat with SEC Chair Paul Atkins was a standout. He noted that the United States is “maybe a decade behind,” and emphasized that securities and private markets are poised to move on-chain.

Prediction:
U.S. dollar stablecoins with yield will drain bank accounts in every country with an inferior currency - which is pretty much all countries.
These countries will react with crypto capital controls - they'll pass laws or regulate.
We're already seeing it.
In the UK the Bank of England is trying to prevent citizens from holding more than £10,000 per person in stablecoins - you'll start seeing crypto capital controls like these (and worse) in many countries over the next 6-12 months as authorities react.
These capital controls will then push more people into DeFi and crypto.
Freedom has no borders on the internet.

If your crypto was stolen from Coinbase, Uphold, Kraken or Binance, NY's BitLicense rules offer strong protections—even nationwide.
Exchanges must detect fraud, use robust anti-fraud programs (like phishing-resistant 2FA & withdrawal holds), investigate thoroughly, and report incidents fast.
Quick victim tips: Secure accounts NOW (authenticator apps, not SMS), gather evidence (TXIDs, screenshots), file IC3 report, avoid scam "recovery" services.
Arbitration is tough. Get an experienced guidance early.
