Out today: Multicolor cathodoluminescence imaging of single lanthanide nanoparticles. You can shoot electrons at things and they will emit light that can be used for high-res imaging. But it's not easy! We show this using single lanthanide nanoparticles: nature.com/articles/s41467-0…

New pre-print! SMLM can detect intermolecular interactions, but how? We describe an algorithm that treats intermolecular interactions probabilistically to determine the absolute number of interacting molecules: biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/… Congrats Xingchi, Polly, Arvind and Sohaib!

We have an openning for a postdoctoral fellow interested in pursuing method development in cryo-vitrification (cryo-plunging and high-pressure freezing) for applications in studying nanoscale cellular organization using super-res imaging and cryo-ET. DM or e-mail me. Plz RT! 🔬🧊

I’m super excited about the visit of my role model, Pietro! Not only have his contributions advanced our understanding of neuronal membrane biology, but he is also a wonderful mentor. His guidance has shaped the mentor I aspire to be for my trainees. 😊@PDClab @YaleCellBio

Inaugural Alma Dal Co @Alma_DalCo lecture delivered today by Uri Alon. This is the first time I saw a seminar speaker give a chalk talk. It actually worked pretty well. Would you try it?

Great talk today at @MCB_Harvard by Elçin Ünal from @berkeleyMCB about aging and rejuvenation of gametes in meiosis. The slide on the photo highlights the efforts of Elçin's former PhD student @JGoody1120, who was an UG student working with me at @ChemistryUIUC. Small world 🙂

This is a pretty cool idea for signal amplification in fluorescence imaging: first fuse the target protein with a biotin ligase, then label with a fluorescent streptavidin:
Beyond BioID: Streptavidin outcompetes antibody fluorescence signals in protein localization and readily visualises targets evading immunofluorescence detection. biorxiv.org/cgi/content/shor… #bioRxiv
