🚨🇲🇽 Mexican cartel Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) started as avocado farmers. Now they're Mexico's most violent drug empire challenging the Sinaloa Cartel.
Their strategy? Be so violent that other cartels look reasonable.
2015: Shot down a military helicopter tracking their boss El Mencho using an RPG. First time a cartel took down military aircraft.
They don't bribe politicians like Sinaloa does. They create chaos then sit down with local officials and say "want more of this or shall we negotiate?"
They pioneered weaponized drones to attack both military and rival cartels. They're responsible for a third of drugs entering the U.S.
The twist? Their leader El Mencho disappeared around 2019. Rumors say he's dead or too sick to run things. DEA still offering $10 million for his capture but nobody knows if he's alive.
Without him the cartel's fracturing into factions.
More violence. More chaos.
🇲🇽April 2015: CJNG ambushed a police convoy in Jalisco with machine guns and grenade launchers.
15 officers killed. Military-style precision.
Even then, experts called it "very well planned and orchestrated."
Over 100,000 dead in Mexico's drug war at that point.
This has been happening for decades.
But it took El Mencho getting killed today, with buses burning and roads blocked across multiple states, for the world to pay attention.
The cartel he built has been waging war on Mexico for over a decade.
Now that he's gone, it's anyone's guess what comes next.
