🚨Personal news: I'm thrilled to announce that I'm off to @CEN_HQ to run their comms in September. I can't wait to join such a great team and help champion green conservatism. I'm not leaving @WeAreBrightBlue entirely as I'm stepping up to become their latest Associate Fellow!

'They have that ability now.' @TomTugendhat tells @NickFerrariLBC that China can remotely 'stop' cars abroad, and warns against the UK 'leaving ourselves wide open' to surveillance.

MI5 issued an unprecedented warning last month that China’s Intelligence Service (The Ministry of State Security) is using front organisations to deceive British institutions. Given this, you might think the Government would have some concerns about its National Security Advisor’s links to a Chinese Think Tank alleged to be a MSS front. No such concerns according to FCDO Minister @CPJElmore What precisely are the Government’s ‘policies and procedures’ for engaging with alleged hostile intelligence fronts and how do these square with MI5’s warnings? Incredible.

This is unacceptable. Labour's disjointed, last-minute approach from Labour will leave us economically dependent on China. That is why I will bring trade, economic policy and military strategy together to ensure Britain is protected from Chinese coercion.

Not a single mention of farmers or farms in the Red Book. The core farming and nature budget has been eroded over £500 million since 2021. This budget cannot keep being eroded. For the sake of farmers, nature, and food security.

Replying to @JohnHealey_MP
@JohnHealey_MP says he wanted to back ‘bloody minded founders.’ Yesterday’s Budget didn’t. ‘Founders Relief’ is SO convoluted it excludes most businesses. Will the Consultation consider the cost-neutral, pro-business proposals I argued for in @CityAM?.. cityam.com/it-is-the-tax-sys…

Sorry, this isn’t credible. If you want to be in the chamber for the budget, there’s always a way.
🚨 WATCH: Nigel Farage says he didn't attend the Budget in Parliament to "avoid a physical altercation" "Given my prayer card [to reserve a seat] was removed, I was heading towards another physical altercation... being a quiet, shy and modest person, I decided against it"

Just back from the Budget. Frankly there’s not much in it and what is in it isn’t good. The Chancellor is recognising the problems but won’t fix them.

Takeaways from the budget: Household disposable income down - £400 or 0.8% Debt up on predictions by around 10% for the next few years No clarity on cutting costs. No building resilience. No preparation for the winter to come. And @KemiBadenoch nailed the response.

The treaties we signed and @UKParliament agreed have always been clear - we didn't give the ICJ jurisdiction over the Chagos Islands. We should be defending the Chagossian people and the laws we signed, not bowing to expansionist courts reaching beyond their remit. Whose side is the Foreign Secretary on?

I asked Ed Miliband which state backed the cyber attack on Jaguar Land Rover. He refused to answer the question directly, but immediately went on to say, “I've talked a lot in this session about Russia and about what it is doing.” A slip-up, or a subtle attribution of blame? Rest assured, I will keep asking until we get an answer.

The Foreign Secretary declined to: • Expel Iranian Security Service members, • Ban Russian tourist visas being used by Russian terrorists, and • Shut down Confucius Institutes? Why will the Government not act on these threats to our country?

Inflation has slowly eaten away at the core farming budget, leaving rural communities exposed. Uprating it is the right move for our food security, nature, and national resilience - we hope the Chancellor does the right thing on Wednesday. express.co.uk/news/politics/…

The cyber-attack that crippled operations at Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) last year was state-sponsored, a former defence minister has admitted. Al Carns’s comments are the first acknowledgement from a government figure that a hostile foreign power backed the attack in August last year. 🔗: telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/10…

Labour tells the British public to stock up on tinned food and wind-up radios to prepare for cyberattacks. Yet after the devastating attack on JLR, estimated to have cost up to £2.1 BILLION, the Government still hasn’t publicly named those responsible. How can Britain deter hostile states if we won’t name those attacking us? The British public deserve answers. telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/10…

Our allies should reconsider submarine partnerships with Argentina. Whilst Argentina continues to push its undemocratic claim on the Falklands, this would risk British efforts being re-directed away from where our allies need our support.

Jonathan Powell’s position as National Security Adviser is untenable. His repeated meetings with the CCP were disclosed not by the British Government, but by Chinese Communist Party read outs, and serious questions remain over his role in the collapsed China spy case. He is responsible for the Government’s disastrous Chagos negotiations and still advocates giving away billions in taxpayer money to surrender a British territory. He has refused to appear before many Parliamentary committees. Now, concerning material shared publicly by his wife raises further questions about his judgement and sharing access to sensitive information. If he were a Minister, he would have to appear in front of Parliament to answer for these glaring concerns. Instead, the man running our foreign policy and national security refuses any scrutiny. telegraph.co.uk/politics/202…
The National Security Advisor’s wife’s tweets have raised serious questions about the handling of sensitive national security information, and the process of approving proscriptions. Is Jonathan Powell's position still tenable? I’ve written to the Prime Minister for answers.

Pleased to have contributed this piece to @TheCriticMag to promote @CEN_HQ’s latest report ‘Growing Returns’. We know that we need to restore nature and protect our countryside: this is the core of conservatism. But we often forget why we are doing this (a 🧵 👇)
