My first angel check happened when a friend at Accel asked if I wanted to meet @radarlabs. 75+ investments and 2 funds later, founders ask me for angel intros every round, but a lot of the people I've worked with in the past have raised a fund, retired, or lost interest. But setting aside allocation for strategic angels is so important for founders. So @holman and I started Dead Angels. First SF meetup is Tuesday. Come be undead with us. 🧟😇😇😇😇

Zach and I noticed it's hard to find angel investors for pre-seed startups and a lot of people we used to work with raised a fund (guilty), retired to the desert or woods, or both. Trying to rebuild an ecosystem of people to help early stage startups from day 0. Join us via the link in comments.
The idea of the "angel investor" is kind of... dying. And yet, I'm not sure angels have ever been in such high demand as they are now. Super weird stuff. zachholman.com/posts/angel-i…

A party round feels like momentum when you're closing it but a liability the day you need a bridge. Take the lower valuation with a real lead over the higher one with 15 check-writers who each own 0.6% and have no reason to pick up the phone. Read more on the Vermilion Substack

🚀 Big congrats to the team at @osmosis_ai on their launch today! They’re building the reinforcement learning layer for AI agents, helping models learn from experience and get better over time. We’re proud to back founders solving one of AI’s hardest problems: making models adaptive, not just intelligent. 👉 osmosis.ai
We've raised $7M to help companies build AI agents that actually learn and work. @Osmosis_AI is a platform for companies to fine-tune models that outperform foundation models with reinforcement learning. Better, faster, and cheaper.

Finally live! Useful, proven reviewers for everyone to use. Have a cool OSS package that's missing? You can request it!
If AI can write code, why can’t it review it? We’ve been building a small step toward that. It’s called AwesomeReviewers[.com]. A library of 1,000+ reviewer prompts, distilled from real GitHub PRs. awesomereviewers.com

Does AI mean the end of devtools? Short answer: No. Long answer: No. Devtools aren’t dying - they’re evolving but GTM playbooks are breaking. So what’s working and what’s not in 2025 technical GTM? Lesson 1: We all have the attention span of gnats vermilioncliffs.substack.com…

AI is transforming how we build, test, maintain, and secure software—and Quality Assurance is at the center of this revolution. The ecosystem is evolving beyond LLM-based coding assistants, with code quality and review emerging as a distinct category. 🔎 See the full landscape via @AINativeDev → landscape.ainativedev.io/

It takes a lot of work to make it easier for developers and their AI copilots to deliver relevant code gen - way to go @baz_scm
Today’s we’re announcing the addition of Module Memory, a core review infrastructure enhancement that adds module-level detail to every commit 🚀 This means: 📚 Code review descriptions, topics, and comments are much more accurate and in-tune with the exact way you used a given package. 🧠 Better understanding of intra-codebase module relationships + behaviors helping both developers and AI to figure how things actually work. ⿻ A brand new Change Request Graph 🥳 ⬇️ 🧵

So excited for @ashl3ysm1th and the founders that can learn so much from her experiences. This origin story is one you want to read 🌞🌄🐕🛻
South Georgia, the internet, and startup-land (and also I launched an early-stage venture fund) - it’s been quite a ride to get here and I am thrilled for what’s next. open.substack.com/pub/vermil…
