I still don’t think people understand what it means for 33 million people to be displaced. That’s 6 times more people than those internally displaced in Ukraine from war, that’s roughly 90% of the population of Canada. That’s how many people are internally homeless right now

In accepting this position you acknowledge that you will be working with a supervisor who has a hostile relationship with the organization’s technology and that you will be required to help him with all normal online and digital functions.

I once had a job where, every few weeks, a star reporter or editor would give a presentation about the biggest fuck up of their career and how they overcame it, and I think more organizations should do this. Normalize learning from failure.

Using the charity model- #FoodBank - we have not made a dent in addressing endemic hunger and food insecurity. We believe big shifts towards valuing and centering people impacted by racism, hunger and economic exploitation are needed to #EndHunger Sign on ow.ly/ORGY50IsQG4

Don’t get me wrong- the nomination of Judge KBJ is a historic moment. But why are we normalizing a Black woman being verbally & emotionally abused by a committee for the public to see? Why are we applauding composure during abuse? Why must Black women suffer to make history?

It’s a joy to find solidarity with nonprofit professionals! Lots of similar stories being shared at #22NTC, and lots of scribbled notes and ideas to bring back to my team.

Note: ICE, CBP & other federal law enforcement are not subject to actions under Section 1983 of the Civil Rights Act, which applies only to state and local law enforcement officers. Federal officers use #federalimmunity to shield themselves from accountability for misconduct.

For 23 years, Pedro has worked in the US in agriculture. He currently works caring for calfs on a dairy farm. Unfortunately, in the US people like Pedro are considered essential, yet deportable at the same time. It’s time for congress to change this. #WeAreHome

Respectfully, after the last two years I think we’re beyond the “is anyone else having trouble concentrating with everything going on” phase and need to be asking why we’re upholding a culture that expects us to carry on business as usual

Black farmers lost 90% of their farmland in the last century largely due to loan denials by the USDA. Black-owned farmland in 1920 would be valued over $185B today. In Marion County, FL alone, the Black community's wealth declined $1B from the loss of their farmland.
