This is an interesting thread for anyone writing for children - especially the bit about ‘awards’ books.

Proof notes, acknowledgments & dedication gone to my editor. I’m on my holliers. Our plans for celebrating tragically on hold as I cough and splutter…but oh the relief that the #CityGirlsForever are on their way!
Brilliant title! @AlNolan

Very proud to have been involved in this great project providing support for very young children bereaved by suicide.
#safeharbour @NOSPIreland
A beautiful, new illustrated story book #SafeHarbour, that will support children who have been bereaved by suicide, has been launched this morning.
Written by Patricia Forde and illustrated by visual artist Bronagh Lee, this new @HSELive resource will empower parents or carers to have difficult conversations safely with their child around this sensitive topic.
It is accompanied by 'Safe Harbour: A Helpful Guide for Parents and Carers', which outlines how parents or carers can practically use the book. The guide is also helpful for any professionals who would like to integrate Safe Harbour into their work to support a child who has been bereaved by suicide.
The content in Safe Harbour has been developed by bereavement experts, professionals and people with lived experience. The book is dedicated to bereaved children and families in Ireland.
Visit childhoodbereavement.ie/safe… for:
- More information on Safe Harbour
- Downloads of Safe Harbour and Safe Harbour: A Helpful Guide for Parents and Carers
- Accompanying audio resources
-Information on bereavement supports
Safe Harbour, and the accompanying guide, are also available in print.
To request printed copies, email [email protected].
Produced by @HSECHO7, @NOSPIreland and @ICBNIrl within @IrishHospice. With support from HUGG (Healing Untold Grief Groups) Ireland, @PietaHouse and @Barnardos_IRL.
Many thanks to @OisinMcGann for highlighting this article and sharing his experiences too.

Feeling deeply privileged to be spending time @TyroneGuthrie It’s been a joy to meet the new director, Anna, catch up with the extraordinarily kind staff, and get to know the other residents who’ve blown my mind with their honest and courageous creativity. @artscouncil_ie
Yes, I totally agree with this. Expect a huge amount from children and they deliver because they want to, and they can.
Children believe what you think of them - think big and they’ll be big, think small and you’re in the wrong job 🙌 what an absolute power house! Strong, honest and pure inspiration. Going back to school after Easter with a fire under me @katrionaos
Congratulations to @shanehegarty and Ben Mantle on the launch of “Dexter Lost his Boo-Woo’ @DubrayBooks on Grafton Street this evening. @HachetteIre
