‘The appointment of Nusseibeh, who has been the face of the UAE’s Sudan strategy, would be a slap in the face to the millions of people suffering the horrors of war, and a dereliction of duty towards those thousands who have already been killed.’

“You take the victim and make the victim the perpetrator.” I hear versions of this argument a lot but it doesn’t make any sense. No category of person is fixed through history as one or the other. Many (most?) have taken a turn as both victim and perpetrator depending on context.
“To accuse the Jewish people of genocide is wild.”
Broadway icon and Nobody Wants This star Tovah Feldshuh gets real with Jonathan Harounoff on UNSCRIPTED, on acting, marriage, the global rise of antisemitism, and what she says about the genocide accusations against Israel.

This is actually a condescending view of working-class people. I grew up in a working-class immigrant family and we ate at Red Lobster and The Cheesecake Factory for "fancy nights out." But even we understood that the White House should not look like the inside of a Red Lobster. Working-class people are not culturally illiterate just because their experiences are shaped by their limited means.

"A former Rwandan army sergeant major, who became an outspoken critic of President Paul Kagame, has been found beheaded in neighbouring Uganda. ... His death adds to concerns about the safety of Rwandan dissidents living in exile."

“I think that a sort of discursive shift in how we talk about Palestinians’ right to defend themselves needs to happen.” @infinite_jaz
Yes & long overdue but still very far. Ask a 2SS proponent how they imagine Palestinian military, borders, airspace.

The camp leaders also said: we can show you the graves.
And we drove with them through a dusty field on the outskirts of the camp to the site where they bury the dead.
Graves like these are the true measure of DOGE and the new US humanitarian model.

Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood just doesn’t work coherently in U.S. discourse. There are too many layers, too much history, a lot of terrible & paralyzing aspects, also a sincere mass reaction to terrible repression & search for something better.
These exchanges are stupid.
And from @GovMikeHuckabee ?
Levine is a US citizen.

If these psychopaths kick and beat a journalist so viciously while being recorded, what do you think happens to ordinary Palestinians when there’s nobody filming?
They know Americans are not as cruel as our government — they won’t release the report on bombing schoolgirls or livestream an execution before midterms.
NEWS: Top Pentagon officials have expressed their intention to hold off on releasing an internal report into the attack on Shajarah Tayyebeh Elementary School in Minab, Iran until after the US midterms at the earliest. bloomberg.com/news/articles/… @business
“The failure to use our leverage.”
Perhaps Harris can explain why she failed to use *her* leverage as #2 in the world’s most powerful government administration during a time when Israel killed 75,000 people in Gaza and a genocide case was well underway at the ICJ.
Kamala Harris says her and Biden’s administration should have acted “sooner and more forcefully” regarding Israel’s attack on Gaza — and that the Trump administration “offers Netanyahu a blank check”:
“America has at times fallen short on [moral obligation to human rights and international law]. Most recently, the failure to use our leverage to curtail the Israeli government's horrific conduct in the war in Gaza, both under the current administration, which offers Netanyahu a blank check, and our administration before, where we should have acted sooner and more forcefully.”
Yes, I understand the formal role of the VP. She is meant to be a key advisor of great influence. She also has a huge public presence and had every chance to make her views known. Not least when she ran for president and clearly said she was in lockstep with Biden on Israel.
