I did an observation in a MS math classroom today & walked away with such joy. The instructor was warm, thoughtful, & engaged. I wanted so badly to be a student in that room. A good teacher is everything. #edutwitter

Speaker Mike Johnson looks like one of the kids in Dead Poets Society who Robin Williams just couldn’t reach.
Okay, I understand that it’s time to box up the Christmas decorations & take down the tree. But what’s our definitive cutoff date for listening to evermore on repeat? #askingforafriend #TaylorSwift
This man is a large part of the reason I went into education. His ability to get buy in from kids & create a space where kids are encouraged to think critically & be empathetic is an ethos I still carry. Thank you Mr. Feeken.

I wrote this about a dear friend.
Brad Feeken changed countless lives as Gretna’s basketball coach. Now he’s fighting for his own.

This article devastated me. We are nowhere in education without strong relationship between student & teachers & teachers & admin. When did cognitive dissonance & critical thinking become verboten? washingtonpost.com/education…

9 Reasons why you should sign the petition to repeal LB753:
1. You believe that public tax dollars should go to public schools instead of private schools.

Do you know what makes me irate? Not giving our kids access to books. My entire childhood was based on the formative understanding that if I wanted to read something I could. Why are we more scared if teaching kids than not pushing them to grow.

This perfectly encapsulates what I’m feeling in this moment as a Nebraska educator. I’m also a Gretna alum & absolutely credit my career path to the phenomenal education I received at Gretna Public Schools. Give voters the chance to decide.
What I’ve learned collecting petition signatures for the LB 753 repeal at the Gretna Farmers Market on Saturdays. A long thread. @SOSNebraska 1/23

Here are the @SOSNebraska events for the week to get signatures to repeal the LB753 voucher scheme.
I hope @LouAnnLinehan, @PeteRicketts, and @BetsyDeVos promote these again.
It helped out a lot this weekend.

Support Our Schools Nebraska. This matters. Public schools matter. Please consider signing the petition to get this on the ballot in November. Nebraska voters deserve the right to make a decision for themselves. supportourschoolsnebraska.or…
Just listened to the @johngreen episode of offline with @jonfavs & wanted to cry. If you care about book bans & why they’re so harmful to our kids please listen. Trust teachers.
This is spot on & terrifying. I started my educational career in Nebraska in 2013 & the educational landscape has entirely shifted since. We need a massive course correction. Support public schools.
My amazing sister in law just surprised me with tickets to the #ErasTour @taylorswift13 see you on July 7th!!
Shoutout to all educators: This job is so hard & requires so much. Please know that your efforts don’t exist in a vacuum. Please don’t let the rhetoric of people that have never done this job, shape your understanding of your impact on kids & the world writ large.
I’m feeling abject anger at the results of the GOP primary in Wyoming. How can we expect to have real, meaningful political discourse if we’re silencing voices like @Liz_Cheney ? The country deserves better than these pernicious lies they’ve been sold.
Just listened to the latest episode of @PodSaveAmerica. I loved the thoughtful & nuances discussion with Tim Miller. This is absolutely the kind of coalition building we’ll need for November.
