At the heart of our mission lies the firm belief that connecting through shared pain and healing builds lifelines of hope and recovery. Every survivor deserves to be seen, heard, and cared for. In honor of #SuicidePreventionWeek and #SuicidePreventionMonth, we remind you that:

Supporting survivors is suicide prevention. Destigmatizing trauma is also suicide prevention. Affirming survivors’ experiences—that too is suicide prevention. And checking in on survivors & loved ones is suicide prevention.

Last week, we proudly attended the screening of His Name is Eku at @RoxFilm. 🎥🌟🎞️ As one of the film’s Executive Producers, we're honored to support a project that shines a light on the often-unspoken experiences of male survivors & the power of healing through storytelling.

Before the screening, our Training and Technical Assistance Manager Kenton Kirby connected with attendees through meaningful conversations about MenHealing’s mission & the importance of creating spaces where men and boys can heal from sexual harm.

⚖️ This year’s theme was finding balance: managing self-care and work flow; the strengths and deficits of non-hierarchical leadership; our role as a service provider and social justice advocacy community; and the realities of financial capacity for paid vs. volunteer staff.

Men wait an average of 20 years to tell anyone about their abuse. Severe anxiety, depression, anger, self-harm, panic attacks, intimate partner violence, and suicidal thoughts are common effects of sexual trauma. That’s why MenHealing was founded.

Yet because of social stigmas about masculinity, most of these men suffer in silence, with nowhere to turn for help. MenHealing is dedicated to changing that. We believe every survivor deserves access to healing resources and a supportive network. 💙💚 #SAAM
