Remembering Ferne Trevors It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our longtime colleague and dear friend, Ferne Trevors. If you visited MetCredit’s Edmonton office over the past 18 years, chances are you met Ferne. She had a wonderful way of making every interaction a little more special, often with a quick joke or a warm conversation. As a Payment Posting Specialist, Ferne took tremendous pride in her work. Her attention to detail, precision and dedication were appreciated by everyone who worked with her. But it was her personality, kindness and genuine care for her colleagues that made her such a cherished part of the MetCredit family. Away from work, Ferne adored her cats, Gypsy, Riley, Rascal and Molly, and spoke lovingly of her daughter and grandchildren, whom she was looking forward to visiting this December. Ferne was part of the fabric of MetCredit, and her absence will be deeply felt by all of us who had the pleasure of knowing her. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Ferne’s family, friends and loved ones. Rest in peace, Ferne. Thank you for everything you brought to our lives. You will be dearly missed.

One pattern we keep hearing about at MetCredit: Businesses waiting months before escalating overdue accounts because they’re HOPING things improve. Um, yeah. Sometimes they do. But too often that delay makes recovery way harder later. Early action creates more options while communication is still active and the sale is recent. Got any Qs about when businesses typically decide to escalate? Message us. #AccountsReceivable #BusinessStrategy

Ghosted before Christmas? October and November are your best chance to deal with year-end receivables before vacations, delayed approvals and tighter cash flow turn them into January problems. Read The Nightmare Before the Holidays: Is Your AR Ready? hubs.ly/Q04BzXpD0

🚨 MAJOR BREAKING: The US Embassy in Ottawa has issued an official fact sheet accusing Carney's government of INTERFERING IN AMERICAN ELECTIONS. It quotes Melanie Joly five times. It names Doug Ford. It names a Liberal MP who campaigned in Florida. Days earlier, Carney and Joly both SWORE Canada would never interfere in another country's elections. The US just put the receipts on letterhead. It ends: "Americans decide America's elections." This is insane. THE LIBERALS ARE INTERFERING IN US POLITICS.

AI generated a balance sheet that didn’t balance… true story. Andrea Browne joins Bryn Griffiths on Overdue Advice to discuss financial statements, credit risk and why human judgment is still key in AI-assisted decisions. 🎙️ Can They Pay? And WILL They? hubs.li/Q04ByV5X0

Your aging report shows what’s LATE. AI can help identify what’s getting RISKY. Our latest blog explores how AR teams can use AI to prioritize overdue accounts, plus the privacy, accuracy and human-oversight risks to watch. Read more: hubs.li/Q04B9cw50

The one you've been meaning to deal with ...every business has one. The overdue account you've been meaning to follow up on. Then another week passes. Then another. The customer promises they'll pay next Friday. Friday comes. NOTHING. Meanwhile, your team is spending time chasing the same account instead of focusing on customers who are actually paying. At some point, the question isn't “Will they pay?” It's “How much longer are we going to spend trying to make them?” That's often the point where bringing in a professional collection agency like MetCredit makes sense. #AccountsReceivable #CashFlow #CommercialCollections

This Thanksgiving, we’re grateful for the people who make our work meaningful — our clients, our colleagues and the communities we’re proud to be part of across Canada. We’re thankful for the trust our clients place in us, the people we get to work with every day, and the opportunity to give back through MetCredit Helps. Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at MetCredit! 🍂

One of the most dangerous phrases in accounts receivable: “Let’s give them another couple weeks.” Sometimes patience is wise. Too often it quietly turns a recoverable account into a bad debt writeoff. Statistics show the older a debt gets, the harder it typically is to collect. That’s why many experienced businesses establish clear timelines for escalation instead of relying on emotion or optimism. Are you keeping silent, and taking risks by doing that? #AccountsReceivable #BusinessOperations

AI is changing debt collection—but not just by making it faster. It’s also making overdue accounts easier to ignore, delay, or filter out entirely. Automated replies, inbox summaries, and digital noise are changing how payment conversations happen. But behind every overdue account is still something very human. At MetCredit, we use advanced technology every day—but we know tools alone don’t resolve debt. People do. That’s why the best results still come from experience, timing, and real conversation. Head to our website at bit.ly/4rVjfMP and read our latest blog: AI is Making Overdue Accounts Harder to Collect. #MetCredit #DebtCollection #AI #AccountsReceivable #CashFlow #BusinessFinance

A lot of overdue accounts go uncollected WAY too long. Another promise. Another extension. Another month bought (at your expense). Meanwhile collectability keeps right on declining. This carousel breaks down why businesses wait too long to escalate overdue accounts.

One thing that surprises people about MetCredit is learning about our community involvement side. Programs like MetCredit Helps support charities, local initiatives, and organizations across Canada … because businesses don’t operate separately from their communities. #Community #GivingBack #Business

Businesses often underestimate how quickly payment reputation spreads. Suppliers talk. Credit managers talk. And industries talk (a lot). A pattern of slow payment quickly becomes part of a company’s market identity, whether leadership knows it or not. Consistent receivables management helps protect more than cash flow.  It protects your credibility. #BusinessReputation #CashFlow
