In Germany, a talented 14-year-old earns his club money. In America, his parents pay the club $15,000 a year. That single inversion explains why "we will not" is the most accurate line ever written about US soccer. FIFA built a global system for this. Training compensation and solidarity payments send a cut of every transfer fee back to the clubs that developed the player, from age 12 onward. Develop one future pro and your academy gets paid for a decade. Barcelona's La Masia, Ajax, every Bundesliga academy runs on this logic. The kid is the asset. US Soccer refuses to enforce those rules. When Seattle's Crossfire Premier claimed its $60,000 share of DeAndre Yedlin's transfer to Tottenham, it got nothing. Claims on the Dempsey and Bradley transfers died partly because the federation couldn't even produce the youth training records. So American clubs earn zero dollars when a kid turns pro. They earn when a kid enrolls. Which makes the parent the customer, and the product is whatever keeps the parent writing checks: travel tournaments, hotel weekends, $500 showcase events, private training at $100 an hour. Elite pathways run $8,000 to $20,000 a year. A comparable academy spot in Italy costs about 120 euros. Follow the incentive one level deeper and it gets darker. A club dependent on fees can't cut its weakest paying players, so rosters optimize for retention over development. The scouting pool shrinks to families who can afford the cliff, which appears around age 11, exactly when development matters most. The country runs a talent filter sorted by household income instead of ability. Every four years someone proposes fixing this. The proposal always requires the people profiting from the $15,000 model to vote themselves out of business. They will not.
“And every four years when the World Cup comes around, we will say that we’d dominate if we had a stronger youth program.” “And will we develop a stronger youth program?” “We will not.”

NBA fans first started off by shitting on Miami’s offer and claiming MIL would never take it and then eat crow after last night. They now suddenly pivot to Miami not being a contender…just getting ready their second serving. 😂

How about that Costco package
The Boston offer is akin to trading with a select retailer of high-end goods The Miami offer is Costco. It's just sheer volume of return.

NEW: Multiple ICE warehouses were sold by people in Trump's circle who were sitting on the properties and losing money. We dug into it, and found that some properties were bought by the feds for 10x their list price. It's a new level of corruption — and you're paying for it.

LOL!!! Miami-Dade College gifted this multimillion dollar public land under the purview of it being a presidential library just so he could grift and build a hotel as predicted.
In Oval Office today, Trump says the Miami skyscraper on land FL gave his nonprofit at no cost will likely be a commercial hotel "This concept could be office, but it's most likely gonna be a hotel with a beautiful building underneath and a 747 Air Force One in the lobby"

Unreal season for Canes basketball given where they were last year. Fun team to watch. Tough way to end.

Something we have rarely seen during the Trump era: a senior official resigning in protest — in this case, resigning to protest the war against Iran.
After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today. I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby. It has been an honor serving under @POTUS and @DNIGabbard and leading the professionals at NCTC. May God bless America.

I worked for USAID when It was closed, these guys literally were firing senior Foreign Service Officers with 30 years of experience on the spot. These kids were drunk on power and a reckoning is coming. I will always be hot about this shit. I know for a fact we allowed children to die because of these snotty shits.

You people are morons
There’s magic, and then there are magic tricks, manufactured illusions, sleight-of-hand acts of pseudo-sorcery. That’s how we should remember Bam Adebayo’s 83. Column on Bam’s highly offensive 83-point game topping Kobe's iconic 81. latimes.com/sports/lakers/st…

“This wasn’t just a night of Bam chasing history, and the team helping him get there late. It felt like a “thank you.” For what he’s done. For what he is. For who he is.” For @YahooSports, went long on a special night from a special player. sports.yahoo.com/nba/article…
