From this photo of RAF Odiham staff fundraising for the Royal British Legion 'poppy week', the modern service beard craze might be being replaced with, what I'd call, a more 'traditional' air force facial hair adornment.

Accents: South London Oh how the youth have changed. These lads talk about the importance of having a good suit in the 1950s. Their overall demeanour speaks volumes as to how the working-class understood the importance of personal, and cultural maintenance. "I spend about 30 bob a week on clothes". The ending of The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966) is so iconic it almost outshines the entire film. Leone spent three days perfecting that standoff, aligning every edit with Morricone’s music. Pure cinema in a few unforgettable minutes.

Easy Company, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, dug in among these trees north of Bastogne on 20 December 1944. The hollows still run in a line through the Bois Jacques, though nobody can be certain which are the original holes. The company faced Foy across open fields and held this line through the coldest weeks of the winter. The worst came from German shelling, which burst in the treetops and sprayed fragments down into the positions. On 3 January 1945 Joe Toye was caught in the open. Bill Guarnere ran out to drag him clear and was hit by the next shell. Both men lost their right leg. Today we walked the Easy Company line with a group of four from the Netherlands.

Spent today following Sgt Clague of the AFPU around the Amfreville area. I covered his work in one of my Substack articles but it was really good to walk the ground. More when I get back, but pleased to have paid my respects to him at Ranville cemetery yesterday. insharpfocus.substack.com/p/…

After I wore this bizarre outfit for a publicity shoot the stylist asked if I would like to keep it, and I replied "You must be joking!" I just learned that someone sold it at an auction recently -for £4000. Astonishing! Much love from Valerie xxx #movie #memorabilia #madness

When Rita Moreno appeared as a guest on The Muppet Show in 1976, she created one of the greatest musical comedy sketches in television history. Attempting to perform the classic jazz piece "Fever" with charm and elegance, she faced her arch-nemesis: Animal the drummer. What made this act a timeless masterpiece was Moreno's exceptional comedic talent. Instead of being genuinely overshadowed, she used every annoyed glance, every calculated silence, and every explosive reaction to perfectly counter Animal's chaotic drumming. Nearly 50 years later, this iconic confrontation remains a classic example of how a talented artist can transform high-level music into pure, unadulterated comedy. 👑😂
Rita Moreno performed “Fever” with Animal on The Muppet Show (1976) — a comedic performance that earned her an Emmy Award.

You’re about to launch a raid on a then member of the Royal Family - a raid with HUGE implications - and you don’t think: “are we doing this by the book?” Incredible incompetence.
🚨 BREAKING: Thames Valley Police have agreed with Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor that the search warrants used to raid two of his properties last year were unlawful
