“are you stewarding your vote in the way that is most loving of your neighbors, that is most intended towards their good.”
@MichaelRWear nailed it on The Bulletin this morning.
“The sensed irrelevance of what God is doing to what makes up our lives is the foundational flaw in the existence of multitudes of professing Christians today." -Dallas Willard
John McCain took the mic away from a woman who started talking like this at one of his campaign events. Trump puts him at the podium.
Beamer on El-Sayed: He has a birth certificate but he's not an American. He had the choice to be an American or not. He has chosen otherwise. He has blood that's red. However, he has chosen to remove any strain of the white and blue part in his blood. We cannot allow this man to invade and, occupy our country.
(He is an American)
Donald Trump keeps doing this to religious leaders. washingtonpost.com/religion/…
Milwaukee’s Archbishop Grob: “I feel a heavy sadness, not only over the pain I caused, but also for the fact that something so sacred to a group of religious leaders, prayer to our Heavenly Father, would be manipulated in that way. We came in good faith to try to work for the betterment of our fellow human beings, to ease their suffering, to build up the common good, and to pray with a president, not to pose for a political photo opportunity to benefit the few. We should never have been put in that position by the White House. I did not go without reservations. I wish I had heeded them. Please know that I have heard these concerns, understand how I caused them, and I apologize for any damage my actions have done.” archmil.org/posts/a-public-a…
Interviewing with one of Japan's top news shows right now. They want to know why James Talarico has a shot in Texas. They are not the only ones who have asked me that question over the past few months!

This reminds me of @MichaelRWear's book The Spirit of Our Politics (read it!) & of this James Davison Hunter piece from 2024. "Nihilism is the operative reality of contemporary public life." The stench of nihilism is all over the sad, sordid tale in Ohio. hedgehogreview.com/issues/in…
For all those traveling to Tampa Bay/St. Petersburg to attend the World Series, skip that and go to the random, awesome Salvador Dali museum!

you're just going about your day and you now get to read stuff like "Trump says Sundar Pichai talked him out of renaming the Atlantic Ocean" and you just have to nod and move on with your day.
“Oceans are different, sir.” lmao

Gen Z is incredible
Yaxel Lenderborg on his NBA debut and guarding Luka: "I got to see what the NBA is like, man. Lot of flopping, lot of foul baiting, lot of praying to the ref. Interesting first game for me... Being in there firsthand, just watching all the whining and complaining, I lost all respect. That was awful"
Transcript of this soundbite:
"Yeah, it was interesting. I got to see what the NBA is like, man. Lot of flopping, lot of foul baiting, lot of praying to the ref. Interesting first game for me, for sure.
I had a lot of respect for him (Luka). You know, just watching. I didn't really watch the NBA much, I just watched highlights. Seeing him, you know, kill people all the time. But then being in there firsthand, just watching all the whining and complaining, I lost all respect, man. Like that was awful.
Like me getting frustrated, it's not about the foul being called, it's about him complaining the entire game. And then you get the foul call, congratulations bro. And then you talk to me like you did something great, bro? Come on, dog. That's just weak. It kinda threw me off for a little while, cause you know, like I said, I had so much respect for him. Gone man, gone.
I was telling him he sucks, he can't score on me. You talking and you can't score on me. I said it the whole game. I said a couple cuss words obviously, you know, that's why I got the technical and all that. But I was letting him know, because he was laughing and talking all this because of that one foul call.
His only bucket on me was a banker from half court. Like I know that it's a team sport. You know, he had 28pts on us as a team. Me, I took my matchup personally. Tried not to get caught on the fouls. Tried my best. I was thinking about playing him with my hands behind my back to see if that worked, probably would've still got a foul call."

please. stop. yes, the other campaign runs mean ads too. this wasn't a mean ad. This was about childhood sexual abuse. Republicans weaponized it. Be as disgusted with me as you want, if there are no lines in the sand, we don't deserve civilization. nationalreview.com/corner/wh…
We should all be much less concerned about what our opponents do than in who we become while opposing them.
WOW -- Vance *defends* Ramaswamy's reprehensible ad 👇
Q: Ramaswamy's campaign put out a controversial ad featuring his opponent's mother. Some Republicans are backing away from that. Do you think that ad was appropriate?
JD VANCE: Well, I'll be honest with you. Whether the ad was appropriate or not is not really my concern. My concern is who is gonna govern. I have to admit I'm a little bit disgusted when I see Republicans who are whining more about that ad than they are about what the Democrats want to do.

When I started in politics, Republicans argued that character mattered and Democrats scoffed. We were right then and we're wrong now to abandon that. – at Paradise Valley, AZ
