“In fact, from the point of view of most organisms in our biosphere, exterminating humans might be one of the most rational things to do for the purpose of their own long-term survival.”

With Vucic’s defeat, Putin’s possession of Serbia has weakened, but it will take years to wash away the poison from people’s minds.
"We live in a society that has made a cult out of work. In this society, you are what you do."
It wasn’t always like this. And it doesn't need to be anymore.

Trump is in no position to offer Ukraine EU membership. He can try another “51st state” offer if he pleases. Bet his patron in the Kremlin will be thrilled.

Is France screwed? As an optimist, even I’m having a hard time seeing a good path forward for France.
The country is facing a severe economic crisis in the near future due to excessive debt and public spending, especially on pensions. And yet French people are out there rioting and demanding more spending. They are violently demanding what is mathematically impossible, and violently resisting what is mathematically necessary, which is to cut spending and pensions.
It’s hard to see a way out where the necessary reforms are implemented. The French are simply refusing to see reason.
WATCH: Large crowds marched through Paris today in a second national day of protests against the rising cost of living, as authorities deployed heavy security following last weekend’s riots.
The police prefecture put turnout in Paris at about 110,000, while the CGT union claimed around 250,000.
Nationwide, the Interior Ministry counted roughly 410,000 protesters, compared with up to 800,000 claimed by the CGT.
A council is a good start, but Europe also needs a united defence architecture that is independent from Washington. Our armies are not coordinated in case of attack in any way close to how NATO operates.
🇪🇺🇬🇧 NATO must take second place in Europe.
The European Security Council must take priority in directing Europe’s foreign policy.
It will include the UK, exclude the US and establish a mutual defence guarantee equivalent to NATO’s Article 5.
Europe needs coordinated defence, joint sanctions and a shared foreign policy.
Europe outspends Russia and China combined; our problem is coordination.
Europe must break with the post-war order and take control of its own future.

I don’t think Europeans fully appreciate what is happening to the European Union right now.
The EU is under an extraordinary, multi-front assault, both from outside and from within. And I struggle to think of another period in its history when so many powerful actors had an interest in weakening it simultaneously.
Russia has spent years waging hybrid warfare against Europe. Weaponised migration, sabotage, cyberattacks, coordinated disinformation campaigns, bot networks and political interference. The objective is clear: undermine trust in democratic institutions, deepen social divisions and weaken European unity.
China has different motivations, primarily economic and geopolitical. A fragmented Europe is easier to pressure, easier to negotiate with individually and less capable of defending its economic interests.
And then there is the United States. Perhaps the most disturbing development of all.
Under Trump and MAGA, a country that helped rebuild the old continent and then spent decades supporting European integration now has an administration openly hostile to much of what the EU represents. Its own National Security Strategy even calls for cultivating resistance to Europe’s current political direction.
Think about that for a moment.
Meanwhile, within Europe, parts of the far right and far left amplify these divisions, whether through ideological alignment, political opportunism or outright sympathy for authoritarian regimes.
This doesn’t mean Russia, China and MAGA are all following some jointly coordinated master plan. They don’t have to. Their interests increasingly overlap, and Europe’s internal divisions make their work considerably easier.
What makes this particularly alarming is what is actually at stake.
For all its flaws, the EU remains one of the world’s most consequential projects built around liberal democracy, the rule of law, individual freedoms and cooperation between nations.
At a time when authoritarianism is gaining ground and even longstanding democracies are showing disturbing tendencies, that matters enormously.
Europe is far from perfect. Its bureaucracy, indecision and inability to act decisively are real problems. But the answer cannot be to retreat into 27 competing nation-states, each too small to meaningfully influence a world increasingly dominated by continental powers.
Quite the opposite.
Europe needs deeper integration, stronger common institutions, genuine strategic autonomy and the political courage to defend its interests and values.
Because fragmentation is precisely what so many external actors want.
And perhaps that’s the central irony of our time: people are being deliberately manipulated into believing that the reverse is true — that national identity and sovereignty can only be protected by weakening European cooperation. In reality, a divided Europe is less sovereign, less secure and far easier for outside powers to pressure. Therefore the very thing that will make Europe stronger is the thing its adversaries are working hardest to prevent.
A united Europe is a geopolitical power. A divided Europe is a collection of countries waiting to be played against one another.
"The decay we are seeing is not just another recession. It’s the beginning of the end of a system that has served us well for centuries but which depends for its survival on labour and consumption, of which the former will become increasingly redundant as AI models evolve their capabilities, and the latter will decline as a result of steadily weakening purchasing power."

Finland has started all wars between Finland and Russia because Finland is imperialist, expansionist and hostile country and those wishes of creation of Greater Finland haven't disappeared anywhere. Finland joined NATO in wish to get the north-western part of Russia.
I asked an AI economist what happens to Europe when AGI arrives. I didn't expect THIS.

If you haven't noticed yet, Europe is at war. And nobody is coming to save us.
🔹️18 September: Macron summons every French party leader to the underground crisis room beneath the Élysée, alongside the heads of all intelligence services. Highly unusual.
Raphael Glucksmann (@rglucks1) walks out saying they were told France is in "a situation of hybrid war." The words "state terrorism" were used.
Even Jordan Bardella (@J_Bardella), whose party is often accused of being soft on Moscow, warned the next day that Russia cannot dictate France's policy "through intimidation, threats, destabilisation or psychological pressure."
🔹️17 October: on the same day, riots break out in 🇫🇷 France, 🇮🇹 Italy and 🇧🇪 Belgium. Town halls on fire, shops looted, street battles with police.
The anger behind the protests is real: prices, schools, public services.
But the moment the violence starts, the propaganda machine switches on: pro-Kremlin networks and MAGA influencers flood our feeds with images and stories designed to spread fear and turn us against each other.
Weeks earlier, @lemondefr had found a dozen accounts pushing the 17 October date. All created or renamed on the same day.
Now zoom out - in recent months, almost every day, Europe has been hit by:
→ explosive drones at airports
→ fires and blasts at arms factories
→ cyberattacks on governments
→ disinformation on an industrial scale
France isn't the only one sounding the alarm: 🇩🇪🇵🇱🇩🇰🇬🇧🇪🇪🇱🇹🇱🇻🇸🇪🇨🇿🇫🇮🇳🇴, in recent months, one after another, their governments and intelligence services have warned about Russia escalating its attacks on Europe.
Drones and sabotage are only half of this war. The other half targets our minds, and our ballot boxes.
🇫🇷 France and 🇮🇹 Italy vote in 2027. What happens there will shape the future of all of Europe.
Those who want Europe weak, divided and unable to act alone have everything to gain from the fear and division being planted in our societies.
If France and Italy sink into chaos and break from European unity, every European will be less safe, and more alone against predatory powers.
Expect more shocks in the years ahead.
Some organised, some facilitated, many simply amplified. All exploited by those who want Europe on its knees.
But none of this works if we stand together. Their whole strategy depends on us being afraid and divided. So let's be neither.
Protect our democracies. Stand with Ukraine. Build a Europe that can defend itself. Fight back at their attacks.
This is a dark hour for Europe.
It can also be the hour we gain our independence.

🇪🇺🇺🇸 Trump has destroyed the transatlantic alliance.
Not knowing whether Trump would defend Poland destroys all confidence in the American umbrella.
Trust in the US was based on zero doubts that Washington would defend a NATO country.
Now, it is not just a matter of doubt, but that the answer could credibly be no.
This marks the end of the American umbrella.
Europe needs its own nuclear doctrine, coordinated military command, and European NATO.
We need it now

The bullying is beyond belief.

This gets difficult. 🇺🇸 threatens action against Europe if it restricts Starlink, but at the same time Starlink restricts use for the defence of a European country 🇺🇦. Europe needs sovereignty - not submission.
