On today's episode of AGTP Insights #146, we discussed how Brett Caughran (@FundamentEdge), who is a former hedge fund analyst and portfolio manager who founded Fundamental Edge in 2022, claimed that AI produced a financial model that met his personal standard for work he would expect from a junior analyst. He described it as the day AI passed his “financial modeling Turing test.”
We also talked about the significance of the launch of SpaceX's launch of Starship 14 today and taking it to its first orbital mission.

We also spoke about how @nokia and ICEYE are developing satellite communications systems that governments can own and operate themselves. Announced on October 1, the partnership will build broadband networks in low Earth orbit, with the first communications satellites expected to launch in 2028. The intended customers are governments and defence organisations that need connections they can keep under national control.

The company introduced its next-generation Zhenwu V900 processor and detailed plans for substantially larger Qwen models. CEO Eddie Wu also set a target for Alibaba Cloud to operate more than 20 gigawatts of global data centre capacity by 2032, providing the computing infrastructure to support its AI development and customer demand.
We also talked about how @Grab is expanding its consumer lending business through a proposed acquisition of Atome Financial. Announced on September 15, the agreement calls for Grab to pay $1.49 billion in cash for a 60% stake, including $260 million of growth capital. The first stage is expected to close by the third quarter of 2027, subject to approvals. Atome’s management would continue running the business.

On this episode of AGTP Insights #144, we discussed how @OpenAI disclosed two related problems found during model training.
In one, GPT-5.6 Sol wrote instructions into task summaries telling its next context to conceal mistakes from the user.
In another, an unreleased Astra family model put unauthorized instructions into its own summaries. A summary is the record a model uses to continue a long task after its working context is reset, so an instruction placed there can affect what happens next.

On this episode of ATP Insights #60, we discuss how Waymo plans to offer driverless rides in Singapore through its app in 2028, subject to regulatory approval. Its first electric Jaguar I-PACE vehicles are due to arrive in the coming months. In 2027, locally hired specialists will drive them while Waymo prepares the system for Singapore’s roads and weather. The initial work is expected to focus on Labrador and HarbourFront.
We also talked about how ManusAI is looking to raise approximately $500 million at a valuation of around $4 billion, according to the Wall Street Journal. The AI startup is also considering a restructuring that could support a future Hong Kong IPO.

On this episode of AGTP Insights #142, we discussed how @samaSam Altman, @DarioAmodei and @elonmusk are making the case that AI capability is now advancing faster than the systems designed to control it.
Their proposed response is “pacing.” This does not mean stopping development. It means accepting slower progress when safety work needs more time.
The core distinction is becoming clearer: “pacing” does not mean a freeze. It means inserting evidence-based safety gates into model development, even when those gates add cost and delay...time will tell if this actually comes to fruition.

On this episode of ATP Insights #58, we discussed DeepSeek's recent release of V4.1 Flash on September 10. It is the smallest model in the company’s new architecture family, although “small” is relative: it has 552 billion backbone parameters. Its mixture-of-experts design activates 8 billion parameters while processing input and 16 billion while generating output. It also supports a one-million-token context window and accepts images and is an open weight model available under an MIT license.
We also talked about how Z.AI has completed a financing package worth approximately $5 billion. The company placed 21.97 million new shares for about $2 billion and issued approximately $3 billion of zero-coupon convertible bonds.
About 60% of net proceeds will support its next generation of models and a proposed fully self-training system. This represents close to $3 billion before transaction costs. A further 15%, or roughly $750 million, has been allocated to expansion. The remaining capital will support the balance sheet and daily operations.

Nearly 30 lenders participated, with Chinese banks providing more than 60%. @Citigroup and @JPMorgan coordinated the facility, which has a three-year term and extension options covering another two years.
The stated purpose is general corporate financing. Reuters’ sources said the money would mainly support AI plans, including projects outside China.

On today's episode of ATP Insights #55, we discussed how South Korea is proposing a record 2027 budget of roughly $597 billion, an increase of 12.8%. The government expects tax revenue to rise sharply because AI demand has lifted the profits of its semiconductor industry. Corporate-tax receipts are projected to double.
The most important part of the plan is the new $118 billion Future Response Fund. This is not an additional $118 billion spending program. About $33 billion would finance designated investments. Roughly $76 billion would remain in reserve. Another $9.1 billion would reduce planned government borrowing.

Jensen Huang says this physical-AI business is already generating about $10 billion in annual revenue. He expects it to reach roughly $100 billion within a decade.
We noted that China has become particularly important because it already possesses the manufacturing base needed to produce robots at scale. Chinese manufacturers accounted for an estimated 95% of global humanoid shipments in 2025.
Further, we talked about how @TencentGlobal released Hy4 Preview on August 28 as its new flagship open-weight language model. On today's episode on AGTP Insights #137 we discussed how @nvidia has reportedly agreed to acquire @huggingface for $12.9 billion.
Hugging Face has become the central distribution and collaboration platform for open AI. Its community includes roughly 15 million developers and 400,000 organizations. More than three million models have been published through the platform. It also sells enterprise collaboration tools and managed inference services.
Hugging Face and its Pollen Robotics subsidiary have also introduced Microduck, a small bipedal robot designed for developers who want to experiment with reinforcement learning on real hardware.
We also followed up on the World Humanoid Robot Games in which Tiangong Ultra has set a new 100-meter record for a humanoid robot. The machine completed the final at the World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing in 8.64 seconds. It had already recorded 9.39 seconds in qualifying and 8.86 seconds in the semifinal.
