Unlike most individual sports, athletics has held firm since 2022 in not allowing the return of Russian and Belarusian athletes.
So with a genocide being carried out in Gaza, why isn't the same discussion being had about Israel?

At the London World Champs in 2017, Ireland had just one top-12 finish.
In Tokyo, they had seven.
Reflected on a breakthrough event for the Irish in which so many rose to a new level.

🚨Coaches🚨
Athletics Ireland ticketing policy means many coaches with athletes competing on Sunday won’t be able to access the Arena. Athletics Ireland won’t budge on this.
Any spectators who have spare tickets for Sunday willing to give to coaches, who will pay, pls DM me.

Coaches are among the great givers in sport, with so much of their time, energy and expertise offered up free of charge.
But an area in which they’re sorely lacking? Looking after themselves

There's a value to coaching elite athletes - and a cost. In Ireland the latter is often unsustainable.
Fascinating to chat to Jeremy Lyons on his 16 years coaching high-level sprinters, and why he's stepping away to focus on grassroots.
