#MedTwitter Can the rank list prevent candidates UIM from matching in #match2023? Yes. Why is that a problem? We can host diversity socials, but if candidates UIM fall low on rank list, what is the point? Detailed data on who goes unmatched will create the transparency we need.

Ranked to fail: Does gatekeeping affect diversity in The Match?

Gatekeeping results in weeding out applicants deemed "unfit" for a specific residency program or a career in medicine. Assessing for "fit" is rife with bias.

In today's data snapshot, @jeremyfaust shows that children ages 0-4 are being hospitalized at higher rates than all other age groups except adults ages 65+. Since 2009, we have never seen such high levels this early except for H1N1 in 2009-2010. insidemedicine.substack.com/…
