I don’t think the hydrological event in southwest Colorado is getting enough attention. This flooding event is historic and that is not hyperbole. The San Juan River at Pagosa Springs is now expected to crest at 19.38 feet; nearly 4.5 feet higher than the historic flood just last week and almost 2 feet above its all-time record.
Successive events of similar magnitudes compound impacts given that infrastructure has previously been weakened. I expect this event to cause significant damage to infrastructure across much of Southwest CO.

The sheriff just closed every public road in La Plata County, Colorado because of mudslides, debris and flooding. Next door in Archuleta County, around Pagosa Springs, everyone is being told to stay home.

A private prison company offered Minnesota an empty prison for 75 million dollars. The state said no. Then Trump’s administration paid the same company almost 500 million for it.
The prison has sat empty in Appleton, Minnesota since 2010. Last year CoreCivic emailed the state and offered to sell it for 75 million, upgrades included. Minnesota passed. Fifteen months later, Homeland Security bought it for an ICE detention center at 495.6 million.
How could this be? You guessed it. CoreCivic gave half a million dollars to Trump’s inaugural committee. And it still gets paid about 75 million a year to run the place.
Republicans love talking about fraud in Minnesota. JD Vance says his task force is all over it. So where are they on this one? I break it all down in today’s show (link in reply).

Yes, the core statement is accurate. Close midterm races often remain unresolved on election night because of mail, provisional, and overseas ballots that require verification under varying state laws. Leads can and do shift as those ballots are counted, as seen in past cycles including 2018 Florida races and 2022 House control. Official results follow certification deadlines weeks later.
