Really keen on getting some experience either watching or volunteering in training sessions in and around Derbyshire. Any help would be appreciated.
Onwards and upwards. The lads I coach are already benefiting from the things the amazing tutors passed on. #UEFAC
Just submitted the last part of my UEFA C. Now to finish the season strong with my under 16s and see what the future holds!
If anyone has any coaching books they recommend in the meantime, hit me up!
Second weekend of UEFA C ✅. Legs are paying for it today after some great sessions put on by all the coaches 👏🏼
Module 2, Day 1 of the UEFA C today. Morning was spent having some really good discussions, recapping module 1 and looking over core football moves. On to the grass 😮💨

Coaches' Correction Mistakes 🧵
"John, pass the ball better!"
How often have we heard this?
Often, coaches critique players' technical actions without considering the game cycle.
What a player does before receiving the ball greatly impacts their actions.
Let's break it down👇

Pressing to Steal | Possession Practice
⚽️ Created On: @SSPlanner
🟩 Set Up:
30 by 20 yard pitch with 2 4yard shaded zones.
👕 Teams:
☑️ 5x 🔴s plus 1 🟢 support player.
☑️ 5x ⚫️s plus 1 🟢 support player.
🗣️ How to play:
✔️ Every 3 passes the pressing team can add another defender for a maximum of 3 players.
✔️ A team must press the ball and win possession.
✔️ Upon winning possession they have two options:
1️⃣ Pass the ball back into their own half and keep possession under pressure.
⬇️
2️⃣ Dribble out of the back of the shaded zone or receive a pass into it. 🟢s can intercept the dribble or pass.
✔️ Each successful press is worth a goal.
✔️ 6 connected passes is also worth a goal.
⚽️ Keep the scores🙌

“What is your purpose at practice?”
So asks former NFL player (and now coach) Deion Sanders.
Here Sanders, in his own unique, energising, vibrant way…is asking athletes to engage in deliberate practice.
To have a purpose (or a set of purposes)…
Deliberate Practice…the work of the late, great Anders Ericsson asks players to have specific goals for their game whenever they practice…
Deliberate Practice can include:
-specific objectives relevant to your game
-objectives can be stretched and tough to attain
-a focus on these objectives as you train and practice
-obtaining feedback from coaches (or significant others)
-reflection on the objectives after practice is complete
“What is your purpose at practice?”
I know development and fun comes first. But if there was one piece of advice or a suggestion to improve an under 15s grassroots team, what would it be? Asking for a friend👀😂
Would appreciate any feedback on this pressing session. Would make sure one of the coaching points would be Shutdown, Slowdown, Sitdown and Shutdown #UEFAC
So much more than a game 🥲
What an unbelievable story, I literally smiled and cried, such an amazing connection @CharlotteFC @CharlotteFC_CFO with her story. As someone who suffers with so many mental health issues, it was an amazing video to watch.
Great CPD event tonight at Derby Racecourse HUB with Lee Brown, some really conversation took place and definitely gave me some ideas heading into pre season.
Atlanta’s counter press high up the pitch is really paying off for them here. Joy to watch #UEL
