At 9:50 every night, Japan's last regular overnight sleeper train glides out of Tokyo Station. It is called the Sunrise Express. While the train has private lockable cabins, the most fascinating car on board is Car 5 and Car 12, known as the Nobi-Nobi seats. For an extra seat reservation fee of about three dollars and fifty cents on top of your regular train ticket, you do not get a chair. You get a flat, heated, wall-to-wall carpeted floor with a big curved window looking up at the night sky. There are no locked doors between passengers. Only a low wooden divider by your head so you don't see your neighbor's face while you sleep. Before climbing onto the carpet, every passenger takes off their shoes and lines them up neatly in the aisle below, toes pointing out. Businessmen in suits, college students, and grandmothers lie down side by side under clean cotton sheets, set their phones on the little wooden shelf by their pillows, and fall fast asleep as the train hums along the Pacific coast. When the morning sun rises over the Seto Inland Sea, everyone wakes up, steps into their own shoes in the aisle, and folds their blanket. Only in a high-trust society can thirty strangers take off their shoes on a moving train and sleep like family.

ICE and Border Patrol protect Flávio Bolsonaro, using umbrellas to shield him from being photographed. Trump’s government beats and shoots ordinary working-class people but gives special protection to international criminals tied to money laundering and human trafficking.
Flávio Bolsonaro fled Brazil in breach of a court travel ban, reaching Miami via Argentina and Ecuador. Reports link the escape to Argentine President Milei’s circle and a wealthy unnamed intermediary. Trump’s administration promised visas for his family.

Ask yourself why the MET police lied—oops, I mean told Meghan that the allegations against her father were being investigated when they didn't investigate anything. Also, ask yourself why the MET police didn't report it to the U.S. or Philippine authorities. What you are seeing now are the Royal Family's mouthpieces, such as Piers Morgan, trying to shift attention onto Meghan. Attacking her with those questions is their way of deflecting attention away from themselves and the royal family. That’s the first thing guilty people do. They all knew. The MET police were told by someone in the Royal Household not to do anything, to stay quiet, and not to protect Meghan, but instead to use the information they had to threaten Thomas into helping them destroy his daughter and the marriage. It was also during the same period that he started trashing Meghan.

🚨 TODAY: Settler-terrorists attacked Andrey, Jasper and me. This video shows the assault. Andrey was severely beaten and lost consciousness several times in front of police. Despite this, he was denied hospital treatment. He was put in an ambulance—but instead of being taken to hospital, he was taken to a police station. He is still there, arrested and being denied medical care. Jasper and I were also beaten. Jasper was then pepper-sprayed and arrested.
HAPPENING NOW🚨🚨: @the_andrey_x @infinite_jaz and I were attacked by settler-terrorists in Umm al-Khair!! They beat us, threatened to shoot us, stole Andrey's phone and my glasses and pepper-sprayed Jasper.

NEW: On Friday, dockworkers at 111 ports in 22 countries and regions on five continents will stop work in a coordinated strike against war, according to the most recent information from the organizing unions. More than 25 dockworkers’ unions have now signed on, from Marseille to Mumbai, Hamburg to Montevideo, Melbourne to Oakland. Days ago the count stood at about 100 ports in 17 countries, and that figure doesn’t include the dozens of unions in other sectors that have pledged support. Their demand is simple: no weapons and no military cargo through their ports. Nearly everything the world ships passes through the docks, and without the workers who load and unload it, nothing moves. In France, the main dockers’ union says the country’s ports will be 95% shut. Italy, India, Greece and Turkey face 24-hour strikes, and Morocco and Cyprus will see stoppages of up to two hours, with rallies planned in port cities around the world. In Greece, metalworkers, ship-repair workers and young people are joining the dockers, and in the US, ILWU Local 10 is striking in Oakland and San Francisco. The unions are working from the Istanbul Declaration, signed in May, with each one deciding for itself how to take part. They are also fighting for their own jobs, against cuts from automation and for contracts, raises, shorter hours and safety. The unions point to escalating wars in Ukraine and the Middle East and the danger of a generalized war. They condemn Israel’s new crimes in Hebron, carried out with the backing of the US, NATO and the EU. Israel’s lockdown of the city is now in its sixth day, with more than 3,000 Palestinians displaced, according to the UN. Palestinian unions have endorsed Friday’s action. In Italy, the fight has spilled beyond the docks. The union USB has called for a nationwide general strike. Last night, the Italian government ordered transport workers back on the job last night. USB said it would defy the order and accept the steep penalties. The unions are calling on workers and young people everywhere to stand with the dockworkers, saying “Ports for peace and the peoples, not launching pads for war.” I’m reporting from Calabria, Italy, and I will be in Genoa tomorrow ahead of the strike to report on the ground during the mobilzation.

On the night of October 1, 2017, a twenty-nine-year-old former U.S. Marine named Taylor Winston stole a white Ford F-150 pickup truck in Las Vegas. By sunrise, that stolen truck had saved thirty human lives. Winston, an Iraq War veteran, was dancing at the Route 91 Harvest country music festival when automatic rifle fire began raining down from the thirty-second floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel into a crowd of twenty-two thousand people. After throwing his girlfriend over a fence to safety, Winston ran into the gravel parking lot right next to the kill zone. Why did he not simply wait for ambulances to arrive? Because police perimeters and twenty thousand fleeing people had gridlocked the Strip, and victims with arterial gunshot wounds were bleeding to death on the grass with minutes left to live. Winston checked the doors of parked trucks until he found a white four-door Ford F-150 with the keys tucked above the sun visor. He dropped the steel tailgate, ran back into the gunfire, and used Marine combat triage to load the most critically wounded strangers into the truck bed and cab. With bullets still cracking overhead, he floored the gas pedal, wove through the chaos to Desert Springs Hospital, handed the victims to emergency doctors, and immediately drove the blood-stained F-150 straight back into the gunfire for a second load. Across two trips, he delivered roughly thirty critically injured Americans to the hospital in time to survive. The next morning, Winston tracked down the truck's owner and texted him: "Hey man, I took your truck to drive people to the hospital. How can I give you your keys back?" The owner told him to keep the peace of mind, and an Arizona dealership gave the Marine a brand-new Ford F-150 of his own. Uniforms come off when a Marine leaves the Corps. The oath never does.

Israel just made it legal to hang Palestinians who have a 99.74% conviction rate in their courts For Israelis it's a 1.9% conviction rate for crimes against Palestinians but the death penalty is still illegal Israel can now kill any Palestinian they accuse

I was on my way back from my son’s track meet in Minnesota and got a flat tire on a Iowa interstate. I tried to request roadside assistance in my Allstate app (because I don’t know how to change a flat tire), but was not getting a signal on my phone because of where we were in Iowa, so I was looking down messing with my phone and thought instead of using the app, I would call Allstate (which takes longer). I was thinking, it’s going to take a few hours for them to get to me once I get ahold of them, when my son goes, someone is here. Like this guy appeared out of no where, dressed in Iowa Hawkeye gear and goes, “Can I help you?” Long story short, his name is Zach Twedt, football player for Iowa Hawkeyes…I just wanted to appreciate him for being so kind and helping a stranger out, who needed to get her kids home safely. He could’ve kept going, but he didn’t! What a good dude! May God reward him for his kindness today!

White players on boys soccer team cheer the N-word—after losing to majority Black & Hispanic high school. "Attention everybody!" shouts the captain. "Make noise if you hate [N-words] !" Students on the bus respond with loud & sustained cheering. Boys in front even fist bump. Soccer team on the bus plays for East Davidson High School—minority enrollment is only 27%. Players on the receiving end of the racist remarks play for Thomasville High School—where minority enrollment is 86%. Both high schools are located in Thomasville, North Carolina. The school district has not publicly identified those students involved or disclosed what punishment they may face.

Many people didn't see that Russia was attacking our data and cyberspace over a long period of time. Then we found a way to weaken Russia's strategy, to respond to their attacks on data. We are different here. Ukraine is more technologically advanced. The Russians attacked our data centers so many times, and still we had cell service and an Internet connection. Because we are digitally decentralized and advanced. Our responses are more painful for Russia because they are more centralized. They have a different strategy. Because they have a lot of air defense assets, they are simply defending what they have. We don’t have too much air defense – we have a shortage. That is why we decentralized everything, not only data. But we always try to respond and do so only after Russian attacks against us. From an interview with The Sun. (3/3)

“I will hand over my passports and defend myself against this travesty.” That’s Flávio Bolsonaro, the son of Brazil’s former president, after the country’s Supreme Court ordered him to surrender his passports in a money-laundering investigation. He also said he’d “never thought about leaving the country.” Then he lost Sunday’s presidential election. Then he left the country. By Wednesday, he and his family had hopscotched through Argentina and Ecuador and stepped off a private Gulfstream jet outside Miami, with fresh U.S. visas courtesy of this administration. Brazil’s president called his departure “shameful.” For a portrait in contrast, remember January of this year. In Minnesota, federal agents detained Liam Conejo Ramos and his dad. Liam was 5, in a little blue hat, and he was flown to a family detention center in Texas. It took a federal judge to block their deportation and bring him home. One of them was a preschooler. The other was a politician defying his own country’s Supreme Court. Guess which one this administration treated like a threat. Immigration enforcement was never about safety or the rule of law. It’s about who they think deserves to be here, and who has the right friends.

Elon Musk’s AI data centers are so disruptive that his company is offering to buy homes in Mississippi, provided residents agree not to sue over the noise, while denying there is a problem. The reported target? 418 homes. Residents describe sleepless nights from gas turbines. The EPA found the turbines were operating without federally required permits. Earthjustice is suing over the plant’s operation. Republican Gov. Tate Reeves has defended data center expansion as essential to America’s technological competition with China. Meanwhile, residents are left to deal with the consequences. But sure, tell us again how deregulation benefits ordinary Americans. And now you know who benefits when methane regulations are rolled back. 6 days…
