my spidey senses are telling me the labs are, as we speak, using unguardrailed versions of their unreleased models to systematically reverse-engineer ALL of the internet’s software, apps, and games, then feeding the reconstructed source code straight into their training pipelines while simultaneously building guardrails to ladder-pull the rest of us

Ben Allen has conceded the race and Jane Kim is our next Insurance Commissioner. If you would like to understand what is at stake here (a lot), you can read this piece I wrote critiquing Kim's campaign platform. The tl;dr of it is this:

Linus Torvalds, the creator of git and linux(arguably the most two important pieces of software ever created) has called NOT using AI "Utterly Stupid"..
My 2c:
- adding layers makes communications worse almost every time
- we already have apps for communications, it's called 'texting' and 'emailing' and it's fine
For @TheAtlantic, I wrote about the appification of school communication.

You gotta wonder how many people and companies really thought they had until 2032 to do white collar crime

One of the more exciting parts of this election - among many - is the return of a religious left.
It's all just stupid status games and safetyism ruining everything

One of the great tragedies of having an elected Insurance Commissioner is you miss out on uber nerds like Patrick Wolff (pictured) who lost in the primary and would have been AMAZING at the job.
He's a chess grandmaster and studied for an insurance license to prepare!

Happy about all the wins tonight, but @JaneKim winning insurance commissioner is probably the most consequential loss for the state of California that broadly people don't even understand yet.
Like electing a vaccine denier to run the department of health.

I do think it's bad our likely next Insurance Commissioner either a) doesn't believe in actuarial pricing or b) somehow thinks a state agency will be better at doing actuarial pricing than the market (it will not)
A reminder that OpenAI and Anthropic ignored the copyrights of essentially every work on Earth to train their models.
If you download a book => huge fines when caught. If Anthropic downloads a book => nothing happens when caught.
An update on building games with Claude Code:
Last week some of you ran into Claude Code pushing back on game projects it should have just built. We'd added a short rule to the Opus 5.5 prompt to steer Claude away from recreating specific existing games, but it was also kicking in when you referenced one just to describe the mechanics you wanted.
We've updated that rule in 2.1.317. You can name a game to describe what you want and Claude should now build an original game in that genre. If you ask for a copy of the original, it'll offer to build something similar instead.
We want Claude to be as helpful as possible when you're building something original, but also to protect your work if someone else tries to copy it. We'll keep improving this, so let us know if Claude turns down work that's yours. Thanks to everyone who shared feedback!
Roughly 1/3 of the minorities that voted for Trump in 2024, swung back to vote D in the midterms. That's a crazy big swing!
Black:
15% for Trump in 2024 -> 9% R in 2026
Hispanic:
48% -> 35%
Asian:
40% -> 29%

Racial breakdown of 2026 midterm exit polls show that Whites are the only group to lean Republican, with Latinos, Asians, and Blacks firmly voting blue.
